Nothing will happen to 4t prices as the 718/6 is going to be a limited production run and priced above the present 718 gts .Are people expecting this to be a cheap version? My cynical side of me thinks Porsche have taken on board the sound and engine characteristics and said ok if you want the 6 na we will ,but it will cost you . The 2nd most expensive Boxster.thing is it isnt going to sound like a 981 gts. Current eu emissions and db levels will put a stop to that.
Would you upgrade from a 981 to a 718/6 for over £30k.

Dislikes the 718 so much, feels the need to enter a thread and join a discussion specifically about the 718 simply to bash it. It's so boring and predictable now..
yep, but Porsche is addressing it with a 6 cylinder variant so I'm a happy porsche fan again

At least I'm not being called a hypocrite lol .......I bought my 981 GTS because of the 718.......I then changed my 981 GTS to a 987 because the 718 was still not an option for me......at least I'm consistant ;-)

For me:

Pros = minor chassis improvements, benefit of new car and warranty, potentially the option of LWB seats, slight power increase
Cons = worse looks (IMO), loss of sound/burbles/pops, £30k cost (equal to approx. 75% of my current car)

I'd have to REALLY want one when they come out. I think I can only personally justify a change if I can get a GT4.

I can agree with that, the headline will be a 6 but likely it will not sound as good as a 981 ........but it will be a new car option again to those who could not bring themselves to buy a 718.......so who knows........time and the market will tell

This is exactly my situation. Ordered a 718s, cancelled it, bought a 981S - have sold that in anticipation of the 718-6. Am slightly concerned about the new sounds, but from what I’ve heard (gt4/spider)sports exhaust sounds good.

As far as I know the only real chassis differences are the bushings on the coffin arms where they meet the tuning forks on the rear of the car only. And the steering rack is slightly different. Some comments I've read suggesting that the newer n1 tyres are so much better that they make the 718 feel better too.

I'm planning on switching to Michelin PS4Ss on my car next year. I wonder how much difference it'll make to the feel and the handling?

Tyres make a big difference. My 981 had the cracking n0 pirellis on when I got it - and I dont mean cracking as in good - I mean they were cracking in between the tread blocks and on the outer edge. It was horrible. The back end slid around all the time for no good reason.

Don't forget Goodyears. Cracking (in a good way) grip wet or dry and great wear rate. At my 981's recent RPM health check I was surprised to find the fronts had worn only 2mm in 30k miles. 6mm remaining.

Interesting chat with sales guy at Opc yesterday when i dropped a car off.
Chatted about the the new 718 touring (thats what he caled it ) lots of interest but no firm yes,s He had 22 for the gt4/spyder . He says that customers want to see it first as it will 70k upwards ? Since the release of the Taycan hes had more questions if the 718 replacement will be hybrid or electric as thats due in 2021.

Considering a 718 , which one and why do you consider best?? Not looking for arguments just opinions thanks
In all honesty if you don’t fancy the hardcore GT4 / Spyder I’d wait for the 718 Six to appear. It will have the engine the otherwise brilliant 718 has been crying out for.

Not sure that would make much sense, what are they going to do with the 2.5L F4? I can see the base staying 2.0L F4; S+GTS staying 2.5L F4; Touring (F6) will be like GT4/Spyder without the big wing etc. That way they can charge more for the F6 engine, whilst keeping emissions lower with the F4 engines.

I think any chance of a 718 cayster with a 6-clyinder costing circa "S" money will be nil. Moreover, beyond PH, most 718 buyers done really care how many cylinders or how it sounds at >7000 RPM ... and Porsche knows this. The 6 cylinder will be to there to maximise profits and hence priced accordingly.

I had spoke about the 6 replacing the GTS and the reply was no , why would they drop a model that still sells? . Couldnt have an s that more powerful than the GTS ? The GTS is suppossed to be the pinicle? Thats when he mentioned the 6 Touring priced above the GTS and below the GT4.

Are you sure about weight? I thought the turbo four was heavier than the N/A six? Academic for me as Porsche new car prices are stupidly expensive these days!
