Went out in a 4RS at the ring
The suspension is cack, as expected - ie rock hard, similar to the 3 RS out the box. So anyone serious about tracking it at the ring will want the MR kit added
Noise… it’s very similar to a 3RS, but has a very aggressive noise on downshift. The pitch of the rasp is quite annoying. Even with a helmet I wouldn’t fancy a day tracking it without ear plugs
Gearing and extra power is obviously fantastic
As a road car - totally pointless. As a track tool - with a change of suspension it’ll be fantastic and you’ll see sub 7 BTG times possible

Very interesting reading from someone who really knows the Ring like the back of his hand. May you extrapolate about what you say about the standard GT4 RS suspension being too hard and how would the MR dampers improve things. The suspension is cack, as expected - ie rock hard, similar to the 3 RS out the box. Did the car you ride in have the PASM set to sport or normal as this makes a difference.?

I predicted that and nobody would believe me that the noise will do your head in after a while. The suspension is cack, as expected - ie rock hard, similar to the 3 RS out the box. So anyone serious about tracking it at the ring will want the MR kit added

It depends how it’s used I guess
My brother has a 3RS with silencers removed in the side - it’s a 997.2
Inside, it’s noisy. Pretty sure he’s a bit deaf as well . Many have commented that it would be too much for them for a full day. He doesn’t drive it on the road
But… there are plenty of other owners who barely tickle the car’s potential
So i think there are various factors, but yeah… can’t see many people truly “loving it” to live with on a regular basis

The car sure isn't a 'daily', same as a 3RS.My brother has a 3RS with silencers removed in the side - it’s a 997.2

I haven’t been out in a 4RS yet, but am at Spa and saw one on track today and then down to N’ring area at the end of the week. All I want is the powertrain. As you’ve said, chassis wise, our cars with MR kit Inc dampers are much much better.
As a product… it’s purely a track tool IMO. Base spec, add MR kit… drive the wheels off it.
Being an 'RS', it is designed for track use where it'll feel most at home. As for non track use, in normal mode, it's far less stiff than the 3RS and handles the A and B roads way better than expected. As for the noise, yes, longer journeys (2ish hours) will leave a slight ringing in your ears (if you've been hitting 9000 regularly, otherwise it's very very manageable). Like most of these cars, it depends what you want out of it and what you do with it.

The 7.2rs without side silencers isn't very much noisier at all. It's the centre silencer that affects the volume of noise by far the most. Inside, it’s noisy. Pretty sure he’s a bit deaf as well . Interesting the amount of experts on here considering how many cars have actually been delivered!
I’ve done over 2500 miles in mine, it is a perfectly useable car on the road, at motorway speeds it’s noisier than a 718 GT4 put it’s certainly not noisy. It’s easily possible to hold a conversation or listen to music etc.
the suspension is harder than the standard 718 GT4 but that model was softer than the 981 GT4, in reality it’s not much harder than the 981 GT4. I’ve had the opportunity to drive them back to back.
At 9000 rpm it is noisy but that’s the main point of the car, however the amount of time spent at full revs on the road is negligible as with 500 hp it doesn’t take long to get to silly speeds. Once the novelty has worn off most on road stuff is sub 6k revs.
I’ve done over 25k miles in GT4’s and this one will certainly be used a lot for track and road use.
Great car better than the reviews and a shame most will never get the chance to own or drive one as it’s a superb leaving present for the Cayman ICE

When you’re in the car, I assure you it is very different!I'd say normal driving, it's only a tad louder but sounder more betterer. (Subjective; depends whether you are asking me or my neighbours when I've just set off early to a track day.)
However, full chat - 4,000rpm plus and WOT - I reckon it's a little bit louder again.

I can also assure you it isn't because I have a 7.2rs that I've replaced the side silencers and it wasn't very much louder post event .....

So as a c25 year old he recommends speccing sports seats in the GT4RS because whilst the buckets are very comfortable they are very difficult to access and exit.
Top comedy indeed and sage advice from an obvious expert.
Yep I roiled my eyes at that point in the video - he let himself down there with that comment. Top comedy indeed and sage advice from an obvious expert.
It’s youtube - ie it’s low end entertainment, not consumer advice or the stuff that anyone with the wherewithal and connections to actually purchase such a car would be steered by. Same with any of our regional you-tuber garbage, surely even they know this. Just surfing the wave, none of this crap actually matters (just a shame Porsche and other media relations PR departments can’t see it for what it is, and throw money, favours and car allocations at these chancers). I try and focus on content from actual professional trained journalists, who have a skill that breeds an element of objectivity.
