Good news for me my GR RS is built and on its way.
It kept getting put back a few days and then a few days more then blam built, finished and ex factory all on the same day. Just the interminable wait for the various boats between there and the IoM. PPF, pads, and geo all to cram in ASAP then a running in trip out and it's good to go.
Started booking track days now, this is one RS that isn't going to stop moving, happy days.

It's all a game and agreement between them (the customer) and the OPC, for them to be able to get the next special halo car. Essentially they help each other out and they're all winners. It helps the customer (who in most cases is a business owner and the accountant advises changing cars) in getting the latest exclusive car. The customer in turn helps the OPC with their yearly sales ordering up to 10 cars (all variety) a year if not more, and the cycle continues...

My friend's MD had his 992 GT3 Touring for less than 3 months and gave it back to his supplying OPC and now he is due his GT3 RS soon.

Romans apparently have a 4RS incoming, ‘will be interesting to see who’s car it is and how much they’ll be flipping it for…
Interesting that they put it on their Instagram 4-5 days ago with very limited information apart from it being “brand new”, and so far have revealed no further details, nor listed it anywhere, not even on their website. Apparently buyers need to “please enquire for full details”…

They clearly want to keep a low profile on this one. Perhaps they are the ones flipping it…

The Yachting Blue Metallic car seems to be back up for sale too:

https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/8D78DM

There have been a reasonable amount delivered, so no surprise there are a few for sale.

If this is close to accurate is 40 a reasonable amount? I am surprised less than 10? have so far been flipped based on the profits available to owners (and OPC's)

I would hazard a guess quite a few more have been 'flipped' on the quiet behind OPC closed doors. More of the same with the 992RS !
On another note and based on my few hundred miles in mine I can't imagine any true enthusiast selling one because they don't like it. Its one of the most fun, engaging and exciting cars I've ever been in let alone drive.

I think they're a quarter of sales out, most OPCs have had at least two. I think there are circa 100 out there.

So all told by the end of production there could be more 4rs than manual 987CR!

You are quite correct. OPC take the car back at the list price you paid (so effectively it's cost you nothing) to give you an allocation on the next GT product. They sell your car at current market value and everyone's a winner. To take the full money out of the car you need to sell it private or out of the OPC network. You'll make 6-figures but lose the chance of another allocation. Overall not a bad place to be.

How do those two statements make sense, if that was so the buyer isn't making any money so he's no winner.

He's wrong. I know of a case where guy traded in his gt3 for a big profit and then porsche made again.

The buyer gets to drive a car for a while for zero depreciation, so it costs nothing to buy, and they get the next car to do the same. So it's still a win if not necessarily a financial one.

By the looks of things most get to do a few hundred miles, which isnt really getting to "drive" them.

As i've said before there is still a cost. If you pay cash a large amount of cash is tied up which could be working to earn you more or if on finance you lose whatever the interest payments on the car are!

While this may be true on theory, ive found reality to be somewhat different. Firstly i do not see most of these cars as driven, they all have pretty much Zero miles on them. My friend has sold every single one of his GT(3&4) cars back to the OPC(he has owned them all pretty much) and made around 40-50% of the overs. the last GT3 touring he made 40k, the previous Touring he make 50k, 997's he made 30K, GT4 he made 10K, 996 GT3RS he made 10K.

I do not believe someone is handing over a GT4RS/GT3 with Zero miles on it, for the hope of getting an allocation for the next GT product and the grateful thanks of the dealer principle and not receiving a decent chunk of the profits.

Still plenty of time to do a few Cars and Coffee runs, a YouTube video and some Instagram posts...
