Agree with most of that - both subjectively and objectively (based upon road tests) the Boxster is a bit quieter than the Cayman (counter intuitive, I know, but the Box doesn't suffer as much tyre roar - a serious issue with the Cayman in particular.

I can recommend the N rated Goodyear Asymmetric 2's, which are significantly quieter than the Pirelli's. But we're probably straying off topic..

We had a boxster 981s, nice car although should have specced full leather as that really improves the cabin, but importantly for op’s questions, I found the seats excruciating- they were the standard ones, and I couldn’t sit as a passenger or driver for more than an hour without bad lower back ache. I’m 6’3, and of medium build, and although I could have done with being able to get the seat back a bit more, the real problem was, I believe, that there is no tilt adjustment on the base, so that, for a tall person, there is no thigh support, so your sit bones have too much pressure on them and your pelvis is forced into the wrong angle. Also, the narrow seat backs of the standard seat were uncomfortable. When we came to change it, my wife would not accept any of my attempted substitutions, and somewhat reluctantly we looked at 718 caymans. Despite my misgivings, it appears that 18way seats solve all my back problems, and although I feel like I sit a little high, it’s now comfortable for long periods. We now have a 718gts. Massively improved cabin with the upgraded interior package. Personally I found the base model underpowered, but then I’m used to my 600bhp M6. The gts feels as fast as is necessary.

We too were told that the London/reading group had new stock they were selling at a discount, but they didn’t have anything we wanted, so got an ex Reading car..

I'd echo that - and I'm small - none of my family found the standard sports seats comfortable.

I have the 2 way powered sports plus seats which I specifically sought. They go very low for me, maybe the 18 ways are higher due to the additional motors?
I find I feel like I sit on, rather than in, when sat in the standard ones in comparison.

I have had my 718 CS for 12 months now having spent 10 years driving golf GTi’s. The cayman is an amazing car and an event on every journey. No plans on changing it for many years. I do about 10k miles per year in it

I am 6’2 and slim build and the car fits like a glove

The car has the following plus many more extras

Jet black metallic
PDK
18 way sports seats plus
Sports tex seats with full leather interior with contrast stitching
LED headlights
19” alloys
PASM
Heated multi function sports steering wheel
Sports chrono
Power steering plus
Dual climate
Heated seats
The list goes on

A quick thread revive from me.

Good news, I fit - which was ultimately my biggest concern. The Sports Plus seats did the trick and I still had space on the runners to slide the seat back further if I wished. My concerns were borne from barely being able to get in/out of an F-Type R I drove last year, but the 718 was positively palatial by comparison. It was a nicely defined balance of feeling cocooned in (rather than 'sitting on') the car, not feeling claustrophobic and still having enough space between me and passenger.

I drove a 718 Boxster S, and I'll continue to search down that path as I like the thought of being able to drop the roof on those brief moments we can in the UK.

Now it's just a case of finding the right car, right time, right cost and all that jazz.

Thanks to all that contributed.

We also have a BMW M2, but we both enjoy our time in the Cayman more. I think the M2 is a touch quicker to my mind but is also a bit more of a handful on the slippery roads around where we live.
I've also got an M2, but I think I actually prefer it to the S and love how playful it is! The S feels slightly quicker to me and the sound of the flat 4 continues to grow on me! The M2 sounds great though, hard to beat IMO. Both really nice cars though, I've kept them both much longer than I normally do!
