I’m bit unsure about PPF, love it in theory. Don’t like the joins and doesn’t always quite have same gloss. Still can get etched and bugs and rubber etc get welded to it. Still can and needs detailing to reveal best finish.

But it has protected front of my Cayman really rather well overall. I think the latest versions are better and better though so I’d be hard pressed not to add it. Especially if high mileage or track use.

I've placed a deposit for a Boxster. Reckon the Alcantara GTS interior will retain value better than leather? I like leather and it might be more practical in an open-top car. Even Alcantara can get a bit sweaty when it's really hot.

I'm going for Guards on the basis that there are too many dark colours around, especially greys and blacks (including my current cars) and I want something nice and bright. Ideal would be Miami but for 1600 quid? I am tempted by Racing Yellow though...
Can't go wrong with Guards.

And its free.

Sorry, Boxster.
I may know a dealer who can confirm a build slot for one. Do you want me to enquire and PM you?
Yes please

I am very reliably informed that the power steering plus does not just make the steering easier at parking speeds, which is all most people think it does, but also improves feel at higher speeds and is therefore very worth having.

It is only a software tweak, and can be retrofitted (at a price) or removed later if wished.
Id try 2 cars back to back , one with, one without i think you'd struggle to notice any difference?

I found a big difference at low speeds - but, contrary to what is suggested above, no noticeable difference at higher ones.

It's only ever been marketed as lowering the effort, especially at slow speeds. I've only ever seen one person (not a Porsche representative) claim it increases weight at speed.

As you say, this is what the configurator says "Speed-sensitive power-assisted steering system. Also reduces steering effort during manoeuvring and at low speeds"

Indeed it would increase weight at speed to, normal. So the person is correct in a way but wrong in the interpretation of the system that it adds extra weight or feel.

Had some finance quotes through, trying to get a gauge of what ball park these will be in after three years. I’m thinking mid 50s retail?

Mid 50s sounds a bit high, lots might change in 3 years!

I'd may go £50k as an estimate for a decent spec with low/reasonable miles.

Quite! Current two year old Boxsters are low 50s and 981 mid 40s to low 50s. I hope it would sit below prevailing 981/718 GT4 at time. I’ve committed now but trying to figure how annoyed I’ll be with myself in 2-3-4 years time wobble

You've committed without a contract/contract figures?

Not quite. Seen theirs. Will get 3rd party quotes. Deposit down and fairly confident the numbers work. Just want a bit more detail. Finance isn’t a deal breaker.

That is indeed what the configuration says, and surely if it is speed sensitive then the assistance decreases as the speed increases?

And “ALSO reduces steering effort during manoeuvring and at low speeds"

Many people say it only “reduces steering effort during manoeuvring and at low speeds" which is not what the configurator says.

Always enjoy these fast lap footwell videos (Mark Webber)

I still think the Cayman is one of the best heel/toe cars around...yet 80% want PDK.

Yes, but I have actually driven a car with psp and several without and, as I say at speed - say above 30-40 mph you really couldn't tell the difference with/without PSP

It’s a good watch. Chris Harris has been raving about these. On his Instagram story he stated “go and order one now” and a video from inside revving it up and how good it sounded. It did sound good. Unfortunately both no longer available to view but his Twitter has been saying all good things...

They seem to got a bit of that top end exhaust rasp sound back that particulate filters smother. Not sure how...

Is exhaust identical to 718 GT4?
Has any reviewer been able to directly compare to 718 GT4 exhaust sound on camera?
