Admittedly, this is for a bog standard no optioned car. But over the term this lease seems a significantly cheaper way of getting behind the wheel of a GTS then the PCP quotes I have seen.

Out of curiosity, how many miles would you be doing per year....and how many years would you plan to keep it for?£778.78

Over a two year ownership, you'll have put in £25,878. Lets call it £25K.
I'll guess you'll do 4,000 per year.
= £3.20 per mile (give or take)
+ 20p petrol per mile
= £3.50 per mile (give or take as I rounded down the largest sum).....so over £10 every 3 miles.
+ insurance and road tax
total = £5 a mile.
Unsure if that is good or bad, £5 a mile to drive your dream car. Hey, who am I to judge. but £778 seems an extraordinary amount to pay to, in effect, hire a car ...as its not like you own it come the end..., but hey I'm assuming you must have deep pockets so hats off to you!. Nice.

That's a fantastic combination with the sliver wheels! Give it a hint of Cayman R!
I'd be interested to see a Carrera White GTS with the same dark wheel treatment as an R, i.e. Leave a silver band around edge of dark rims...even fill black mirrors. Do the GTS headlights have a dark band around the perimeter?RichDS said:
has anyone ordered their 4.0 in aventurine?
Yes, with Espresso interior and Aurum wheels. Should be here next weekhttp://www.porsche-code.com/PMCTKQN1

For me? I don't know about the mileage. I just thought it might be of interest to some people who will enter a PCP agreement for one with probably the intention of handing it back after the 3 year term, which essentially is just another way of renting it at that time. And it might be a cheaper way to do so Over a two year ownership, you'll have put in £25,878. Lets call it £25K.

That said, with a lease you know what its going to cost you and it is going to go back at the end, and I dare say a GTS 4.0 is likely to not follow a standard depreciation curve.
Was just looking for a cheap daily lease so I can run the GTS next to it, and stumbled across it.
Not entirely like for like as my Cayman is a PDK but my view;
The engine has noticeably better pick up from low revs and the performance feels a step on from my 981 - not unexpected given the power and torque numbers involved but it definitely put a big smile on my face!!! Nowhere near as loud on induction or exhaust though. And no pops and bangs in Sport (didn’t use Sport+). All of which I have read about. There is enough noise in my view though - it’s just more cultured and less raucous compared to the 981. The exhaust valves close at c.1500rpm at which point the noise level really does drop. Valves open again from c.4000rpm and the induction and exhaust sounds is apparent. Motor spins freely and feels very smooth.
And not wishing to bring the 981/718 steering debate into this thread (I have never had a problem with my GTS following set up by Center Gravity not long after purchase) but the new car does feel more direct. To be honest though, I noticed the smaller steering wheel more than anything else....
And then there is the gearbox. I am a PDK fan and it suits the way that me (and my wife) use our car: to the point that I have been looking at swapping into a 911 Carrera T and have only considered a PDK (awaits cries of derision from the masses....). BUT, I thought the manual gearbox on this 4.0 GTS was mega. I really enjoyed the experience and thought the rev match worked brilliantly.
Apart from that, interior is broadly the same as mine ( both have the GTS interior etc) but the PCM is obviously a step on.
In summary, if I had to sign today, I would take a 4.0 Cayman GTS over the Carrera T (leaving the 911 itch unscratched) and I would want a 24/48 hour test in manual car so that my wife and I could debate the choice v PDK
Although my 981 is currently advertised for sale and I stepped back into it straight from the 4.0, I still enjoyed my drive home!!! I have loved every one of the 30k miles I have put on it....

Great overview indeed. I have been very fortunate to have had a 981 GTS, 718 2.5 GTS and now a 718 4.0 GTS (and also in between the last two a Carrera T). Overall they are all fantastic cars and we are lucky to be able to have these wonderful machines.
I love the new one, it’s my daily driver so I may change it for a PDK version next year (Brexit price rise dependent) but the manual is lovely for a B road blast. I managed to get a cancelled order last month with almost the spec I would have ordered anyway.
I think Porsche have got it just right with this car, it’s a B road lunatic if in Sport mode but equally can cover lots of miles in comfort with low noise on the motorway. The Carrera T is also a lovely car but doesn’t have the character which is driven by the Turbo engine, it is quick and if you like the turbo whoosh then it’s superb - you also can’t drop the roof on the T which you can on the Boxster (which I have) and having just take it around a 750 mile journey to Cornwall and back I can say I did all of those miles with a smile on my face. I think they also have the exhaust right, over 4K RPM it is sublime, I don’t miss the pops and bangs, always thought they were a little artificial (especially on the T).
Personally, having had 8 911s and 7 Boxsters I prefer the latter - it’s lighter, smaller and more focused, I think it’s more balanced (mid vs. Rear engine bias) the only downside is that you lose a couple of seats. For what it is worth I also had a 911.2 GTS a couple of years back and I found that it was actually too much for our speed limit and roads in the UK, before you knew it you could be into triple figures. I much prefer something with a little less power that you need to drive which for me means more enjoyment.
If you have any other Qs about these cars then let me know, I’m relatively new to the world of posting in this forum but very much enjoying this thread!
