I wouldn't say they're terrible in the wet, and to be fair I wouldn't say Cup 2's are terrible in the wet either... but the difference when it's warm and dry is noticeable.
can't agree that they're not terrible in the wet and cold. i use my car year round, and on Pirellis my thoughts were the same as the reviewer's - not much grip, very snappy, and ride not particularly good on poor surfaces.the ride on Michelins was completely different. significantly improved and grip even in sub zero temps.

I do wonder if he'd tested the car in warmer months the outcome would have been somewhat different.
but he's driving the car now, in colder months. why not be able to drive the car year round? makes no sense to me.i think a comparison drive and review with Michelins would be very interesting.

My old 718 GTS was on P Zeros and they were fine. Bit unpredictable in the wet but I thought the steering feel in the dry was very very good (leagues ahead of any 981 or 991.1). Steering on the 718 GT4 is only marginally better/more feelsome.
I like JayEmm but think he is completely wrong on this one, perhaps the P Zeros didn't work in the conditions he drove in. Can't think of another modern sports car I've driven that has steering anywhere near as good as the 718 GTS. Then again I haven't driven a McLaren or modern Lotus

I've been extremely quiet on PH for several years now - but I've got my bug back. In December I put an order in for a GT Silver GTS 4.0. Unfortunately no test cars were available over here (Dubai) at the time but I did take out a 2.5L GTS in PDK. I was blown away to be honest but I had a niggle in my mind over the engine. Just didn't feel quite right and on tickover there was a weird chugging noise - it was almost a bit like a diesel.
I got back into the showroom and saw they had a 4.0 GTS sat there so I asked the guy to start it up. It was instant love. The difference at start up was night and day.
Several days later, after spending multiple hours on the configurator I put my order in after securing a nice discount on a March build car. I've removed the alcantara (really not a fan) and gone for the black / bordeaux leather. PDK also because trying to sell a manual car out here is very very difficult. Plus a few other bits. Thankfully the cars out here are very well specced as standard - they seem better than the UK cars.
All being well, the car should be starting production soon. Build freeze was confirmed around 3 weeks ago. Very very excited!

BTW you say cars in Dubai are better specced than in the UK as standard, but when I went on Porsche Dubai configurator, I see that e.g. Apple Car Play isn't included by default, so I'm not sure that's 100% correct.

As far as I can tell, we get tinted bi-xenon with PDLS, two-zone climate, cruise control and front and rear parking sensors (including camera) and a fire extinguisher (only because it's law) as standard. Apart from the climate, I can't say I (or most others) would be majorly bothered about any of the others really - although they're nice to have.
But yeah, CarPlay isn't standard out here so that is something I ticked. I used it once on a rental car and was really impressed.
I'm quite sure all of that will be built into our prices anyways. A standard car here (no extras) is AED 324k (£63k ish on today's rate) but our VAT rate is only 5%. At the time I placed my order the exchange rate had it closer to £67k though.
One thing I'm not sure of is whether or not PCC works properly over here (the app with the remote data and everything). That would have been a nice gadget. Guess I will find out soon.
I use CarPlay all the time in my base 718, it isn’t too much hassle to plug in the cable and fit the phone in the holder each time but for my next 718T which is due in a few weeks, I’m looking into a wireless CarPlay adapter. There is a thread on 718forum with details. I think they’re about £70.

That's interesting, I'll take a look. i've been watching youtube reviews of connection dongles like 'carplay2air' and they have invariably concluded that they're unreliable and slow, which is a shame really as I would invest in one that worked well.OPOGTS said:
Just so you know, CarPlay in the 718 is wired and not wireless....... which means i'm rarely actually going to use it as its a pain in the ass to plug and and put the phone in a holder every time.....
Open armrestPlug phone into usb cable that I leave in there
Close armrest
It's hardly one of the 12 Labours of Hercules...

Mine finally turned up on Wednesday!😁
BUT........not without some bad news. The dealer rang me to say that it had arrived, however, the sale of the 718 had been temporarily suspended due to an issue. Apparently this is a common thing and normally a quick fix. Just wondered if anybody had experienced the same thing?

Yes same for me, was literally about to leave OPC. 2 days later no message from Germany as to what the problem isBUT........not without some bad news. Mine is stuck too, and I’m in Canada. There are also many in the USA stuck because of a Stop Sale posting from Porsche. See below, and see Rennlist for more info. Hopefully they’ll figure it out soon, nice car!BUT........not without some bad news. Sorry to be a bit of a peasant..... you need to buy something to get your phone to play music in your brand new Porsche? Am I reading that right? Or use some cables? You don’t just get in, and like, Spotify plays and comes out of the speakers?
The CarPlay requires you to plug the phone in whereas these days most manufacturers its wireless through wifi. The box converts to wireless. It will work fine wired.OPOGTS said:

I have one of these https://cplay2air.com/ in my 718 GT4 and it works an absolute treat. From car start-up probably takes 15 seconds for it to all connect and work, but it is all totally automatic.diffstar said:

Thanks, I’ve watched a few reviews on YouTube which all seem to suggest it’s temperamental and the audio quality deteriorates over the course if a journey, also issues connecting after a few weeks.Have you had it long, noticed any of these things?
Hi all
Been after a GT car for a while and never secured an allocation. Plan to sell my 2007 911 Turbo and 2017 M6 (both too powerful for UK) to fund one of these.
Is it as simple as ordering one or do I need to be mates with the dealer?! I’m hoping it’s more normal than the GT cars.
Thanks!

You can just order one but based on earlier posts in this thread you are looking at a long wait for delivery. Been after a GT car for a while and never secured an allocation. Plan to sell my 2007 911 Turbo and 2017 M6 (both too powerful for UK) to fund one of these.
