In pics and on the configurator got really enthused about Aventurine; but now having seen it in person really couldn't see the green in it - shame - thought you could give a car a really understated/classic look (unless the dealer had confused the colour of the car I drove)
I’m still toying between Aventurine and Agate. Not helped by not seeing Aventurine in the metal. What was your take then? It’s less green than in reality? In which case what did you see?
Thanks

Have never been a fan of Agate - too much of a brown tinge in it for me under certain lighting; but the Aventurine looked grey - not a tinge of green, at least in the light that I was seeing it inWhat was your take then? It’s less green than in reality? In which case what did you see?

It is hugely light-dependent - in overcast skies it does look very agate/grey-ish but in bright sunlight it is vey very green albeit olive/khaki green and it has a very subtle metallic sparkle. My gts 4.0 is aventurine and I love it.

Thanks both. Very useful context. Guess I need to try and see Aventurine in reality. If you have any pics you can post of it in light and dark conditions it’d be useful but no worries if you haven’t got any. I also know that Aventurine’s recently been discussed elsewhere on here.
Here's mine in pretty good light looking close to what you see on the configuratorand here it is in overcast morning light - looking much more agate/grey
Would suggest checking out Rennlist - there are a couple of Aventurine threads there with many pics.

Drove the 4.0 GTS Boxster today. Have not had a Porsche since a 2.7 Boxster then 2 997 911's. Car is really great in every respect, engine a monster, but what on earth are they thinking with these gear ratios.
I floored it at the bottom of an empty motorway slipway in second, just changed into third and looked down and was doing 88. Now I hate to be simple but one of the great enjoyments of a sports car with a manual box is swapping up and down the box and having the revs and power build towards a redline. these ratios mean you will only pull within 10% of peak revs in one gear. I have no idea what they think 4th,5th and 6th are for now except for a very fast track or the autobahn overdrive. I personally enjoy keeping an engine on the boil during the 'fun times' and frankly that's no longer possible. Its a great engine which I would want to hear sing, but can only do so if I only want to have a license for more than a couple of weeks.
I have read about modern Porsches being overheard but didn't realise it was this extreme. Have Porsche ever commented? If the ratios were more in line with 'normality" I would have ordered straightaway, but I just dont get it and given how good the rest of the car is , its such a bizarre choice.

What did you expect?
I'm not sure if there are any other cars out there with smaller, lower powered, engines that are high revving, NA ,and handle like a go kart?
So finally submitted my spec and deposit. Delivery for March next year.

I didn’t spec buckets as it will be my daily driver same reason for no ceramics. I have something more hardcore coming so wanted this to be a bit softer.
My last car was a 718 Spyder so going to be interesting to compare the two

Anyone daily’d the 918 seats?
Not dailied, but I have used them for everything from short journeys to roadtrips to track days and find them very comfortable. However, I think it does depend on body shape as they are obviously moulded a certain way and fixed upright. On a day to day basis I would find the ingress/egress the most annoying aspect but still liveablecowboyengineer said:

Are they really on a 10 month build wait? I would be wondering by May 2022 when the replacement model would be due it can’t be long after 2022http://www.porsche-code.com/PNCFL448

So why did you ditch the 718 in favour of a GTS? I had a 981 Spyder and I did find the roof a pain but I'm not sure I would trade a 718 Spyder for the GTS? Very interested to hear your thoughts as I'm considering the GTS for the usability factor. My last car was a 718 Spyder so going to be interesting to compare the two
