A lot of exciting driving ahead, excellent stuff, enjoy (and more so when the engine starts to loosen up!)

Picked up mine last week. Great to be back with a NA engine. We had a 981 GTS for 4 years (longest I've kept a car) and this one improves on it across the board except maybe sound. Lots more torque, better steering feel and great build quality.

Tim Shmee150 YouTube just improved the exhaust on his. The change sounded nice to me. I appreciate warranty issues.

A quick update (if anyone is interested)! The salesman from the dealership called me today to refund the deposit for the GR Yaris but I hesitated and asked for another few months to decide. He was fine with that since they were going to keep the order open anyway. The one that I could have had this month was stuck on Autotrader and snapped up very quickly (over 50 calls he said) and went up to the Midlands.

So my options are still open even though I still think the GTS is the car for me. I'll see how work/cash goes over the next few months.... I'll be happy either way.
I was in a similar position to you in many respects - choosing between a GR Yaris and a 718 GTS. In the end, it was a fairly easy decision - 718. It is going to be a third car, so doesn’t need 4 seats / doors. I’ve gone for the isofix option on the passenger seat so it means I can use it with one child - taking to classes, picking up from school etc.

However, if I needed to carry more than one passenger, I still wouldn’t have chosen the Yaris - it is barely more practicable than the 718! Probably would have gone for a CTR.

At the end of the day you need to decide what suites your needs/wants best, but I felt the 718 would be more rewarding to drive more of the time than the Yaris. Yaris is a good fun car though. The sort of car I would have bought when I was much younger.

Haha, most GR Yaris owners are well 40 plus, I'm 61 and the car is much much more fun than the 981 Boxster I had for two years......I'm really pleased my local OPCs messed me around regarding a possible 718 Spyder or a 4.0 Boxster GTS. My car had to be a manual and second gear in the GR Yaris gets me to 60 mph at the red line and not 85mph as per the 718, plus it has loads more mid range oomph.....over a 1000 miles in and loving every moment, oh and by the way it's mega practical, have had a couple of trips to the tip and helped my daughter move house. Not to mention the cheap finance....

Glad to hear you are enjoying your car.

However, re practicality - we must have different definitions of practicality! For instance, how would it cope with a day out for a family of 4 with two child seats and a buggy and all other child paraphernalia? wink

I suppose the car makes more sense for the young who don’t have children or for those whose children are grown up.

Had a deposit on a GTS and pulled out for a Yaris when all the reviews started to rave. 3 kids (16, 13 and 10) all fit in with me from school pick up. I wouldn't want to cram them in longer than 45 mins, but very doable and I'd say very practical for it's size. Not sure a 718 or Yaris will fit your practicality criteria but Yaris comes a lot closer. Had a sit in the GTS at FOS last week and still yearn after it, despite seeing the new Emira. Perhaps a few years down the line when fewer kids need ferrying around. Both great cars I'd like to own. Had thought of waiting for prices to drop, but that doesn't seem to be happening at the moment.

I was at Cardiff OPC today and they have an unregistered Cayman GTS 4.0 PDK in stock. Jet black metallic with Carmine red gts interior pack. Not sure on the rest of the spec but thought it might be of interest to someone who is fed up of waiting for a new build slot.

Finally put a deposit down on a GTS 4.0. Have asked to take delivery May 2022. Dealer said it would most likely be around that time given the demand on this model.
