Talking to dealer today and they don’t think any PDK version this year. Wonder why they launched with manual ? Am I right in thinking the 4.0 manual they are quoting things like 0-60 that is slower than outgoing 4 pot PDK ? Odd for a new launch? Should sound very nice ! although new emissions etc might impact ?

No, not on paper at least.

In manual form, Porsche quote the old GTS as 4.6, the new one 4.5 and the GT4 at 4.4.

Not sure why anyone fusses about 0-60 times for fast cars. There are too many variables - gearbox type and ratios, traction control, lsd etc etc. 0-100 is where meaningful differences start to show.

Indeed, I couldn't give a toss.

I was just answering the poster's question smile

i'm not fussed either, but it is odd that they went to the significant trouble of designing and building a brand new engine yet the performance is so similar to the old one.

To make a significant different to 0-62 you need a lot more power, generally. 35PS isn't enough of a difference.

fair enough but if the engine performance was always going to be so similar why not upgrade the old engine and put the money saved into making the car lighter?

Because the old engine couldn't be made clean enough I suspect.

Good point. My dealer says manual GTS is a very niche market and sales will be fairly low relative to what a PDK car would offer. No sign of PDK this year although he said 992 GTS has come forward in the schedule. That’s the car that a number of his customers are waiting for

Interesting how there is conflicting information regarding the PDK in the new GTS. My OPC are pretty sure the PDK will be available in November. I have traded my existing 2019 (68) 718 PDK GTS into them earlier in the week as I was concerned about future residuals. I have placed a deposit on the new GTS, however, I am really unsure whether to go with the manual or wait for the PDK to be released. I am fortunate that I have another car as my daily.

I’m hoping to hear today or tomorrow at the latest if I’m getting a GT4. told the PDK will be later this year so happy to wait, don’t want a manual but if push comes to shove.....

I’ve ended my interest in the 718 GTS as I’m more than happy with my 981GTS and the wedge I’ll be saving.

If no GT4 I’m off to Aston Martin...

I think that you have jumped a little early in trading in your car. I do not see residuals being hit until the 6 cylinder cars start hitting the used market and given that PDK isn’t even available yet I think this impact may be a while away ( I do have a vested interest in this view as I have a 2 year old 718 BGTS PDK which I am swapping out for a PDK Spyder later this year)

Residuals have already been hit when they announced the release of the new GTS just over a fortnight ago. I would prefer to have the money in the bank now but of course its each to their own. When has your OPC said the PDK Spyder will be available?

My OPC told me yesterday that PDK for the 718 GT4, Spyder and GTS 4.0 will definitely not be available this year.
