I’m kinda interested if anyone here has gone full blown ‘poverty spec’ and what they managed to keep the option list spend down to!
Most options are nice to have but don’t change the drive of the car. I’d be happy with yellow or black, silver wheels and the only options of climate and parking sensors. On the basis the climate makes it better to live with and the parking sensors because you would curse yourself if you hit something because you don’t want ti spend £400. Maybe auto dipping mirrors too because low cars more prone to being dazzled by higher vehicles. Depends how much it would be driven at night. rwillia2 said:
...I’m really struggling to justify the GTS interior - I really can’t see why it’s worth it! But, I do want a leather dash as the plastic one looks cheap and naff to me and I really liked it in the 991. The OPC tell me that the GTS interior is sought after and adds a premium used. I’m buying it as a keeper so not too fussed about that... !
It's funny what the OPC's can suggest, I think it is as much about their personal preference as any great insight they have. Many of us buying these intend to keep them long term anticipating that it'll be their last "proper new car", so definitely spec it according to your wants and budget.I might be in the minority but I don't particularly like the GTS interior pack, the CF look is glossy unlike the current satin finish in the 992 and you are locked into the colored Tacho. If you have the black leather/alcantara with the GTS pack it can make the cabin a bit of a dark hole.
The standard silver trim breaks it up, or go for the aluminium trim which looks more premium and a lot less glossy/reflective than the standard item?
My spec isn't locked yet but the standard RaceTex interior with added items in leather option removes most of the plastic, (£1242 iirc) and saves nearly 2k over the GTS pack. Pays for the Aluminium trim and LEDs.
I've really enjoyed the wealth of options available, once you get your head around the GTS being a £75-80k car then it becomes much easier.
Got good news from my dealer today, car is in final stages of production and will be with them this month. Factory/production may be picking up because the update I got in early June was that it was scheduled to be delivered mid-August. Getting excited and now need to think about either selling the S or trading it in.
And in terms of interior I have gone for leather/extended leather because 1 I prefer it and and 2 it will be my daily and will be easier to keep clean what with golf clubs in passenger seat, fishing gear, me jumping in after playing 5s etc etc.

If you break it down there's a lot of options that add no value, but are nice to have as you say. From the spec above, i'd never want the speed limit indicator or the lane change assist because neither of them were useful to me on my last car. You can lose PDLS+ and drop to PDLS and not lose much either (the light is almost identical), and that's saving you £1200 already between those.
On my spec i've added loads of interior leather touches, probably pointless but it's what I want and that added £3k.
Just go in with your eyes open and fully aware of what matters to you, the car will drive exactly the same with no options as it would fully loaded.
It really is horses for courses, I had the speed indicator on my 991 and found it really useful and it’s only a couple of hundred quid, ditto folding mirrors and auto dimming mirrors. I like the look of the LED much more than the xenon’s and whilst it’s mainly aesthetic that’s the one thing on the exterior that’s a must have.On my spec i've added loads of interior leather touches, probably pointless but it's what I want and that added £3k.

I agree, you go with what works.

So many of these cars have the GTS interior they must be popular. Each to there own.

I agree on the GTS interior, I didn’t want it and went with leather as I don’t like the teddy bear material. Not bothered about if it add value on resale. If I was in the market for a 2nd hand GTS I’d be looking for one with leather. I’m sure I’m not alone.

I think they are popular because "a GTS is not a GTS without the GTS interior". It's marketing hype.So many of these cars have the GTS interior they must be popular. Each to there own.
I personally don't like alcantara - it's all a matter of personal taste.
I have this: http://www.porsche-code.com/PP2TI862 scheduled for an October build, Artic Grey and Crayon interior.... The options are pretty much the same as my current GTS which I have lived with for 4 years and was happy with my choices and didn't feel I'd missed anything.

Looks good. As this is your second 718 you've made an informed choice which is right for you, no better way to do it.I personally don't like alcantara - it's all a matter of personal taste.

On the configurator interior shots they took the trouble to show 982 on the Odometer, but left 9:11 on the Sport Chrono Clock. If I was pedantic I'd e-mail them...

Also not a fan. They had one in the showroom whilst I was ordering with the GTS interior and the race-tex seats. So many of these cars have the GTS interior they must be popular. Each to there own.
I remember many years ago I had a Nissan Patrol with cloth seats. The feel of the race-tex felt exactly like that car did. It felt cheap and nasty quite honestly and the GTS in the showroom was not wearing well at all.
Full leather interior was the only viable option for me. Of course, each to their own. Some people might well like race-tex (or alcantara or whatever it's called), but to me it's a cheap option - not premium.

I have the GTS interior and love it. This is the second 718 GTS I have specced from new and I have had it on both cars (F4T and F6N/A). It is of course personal preference and there is no right or wrong.
I much prefer alcantara , my gts has it along with the alcantara steering wheel feels much nicer than leather.CRB14 said:

Not wearing well in what way? It's a very hardwearing material.I did 14k miles in my old 981 GTS and after a light clean my steering wheel, gear knob and seat inserts would look like new.
