Mine just clip the speed bumps at my daughter's school each morning. I also noticed when 'pressing on' over some welsh B-roads last weekend that they do occasionally do it on the road, especially when the road is underlating, or bumpy.
I also think it is the little aero bits that deflect air around the front tyre.
I slow down and then gently accelerate over the speed bumps, it lifts the nose of the car. Braking into the speed bump aggravates the problem. Also, turning before/after the speed bump at 10-15° angle helps, as the stabilizer bar keeps the nose up. Both maneuvers at minimal speed. I also think it is the little aero bits that deflect air around the front tyre.

At risk of asking a question which has likely been asking numerous times in this thread. Why did folks go wistead of the GT4?
The comment above about spending more than £10k on options and going up in the range rings particularly true given the list price delta between GTS & GT4. I appreciate with that logic you could keep creeping the budget up indefinitely, but you get the point.
@MPC09 , go and test drive it… for me GTS is an every day car. The GT4 is a track car. Both incredible machines. The comment above about spending more than £10k on options and going up in the range rings particularly true given the list price delta between GTS & GT4. Miles more compliant on the road than my RS
Thanks for the replies all - interesting to hear the 'GT' debate, I hadn't thought of it like that.
@Pivo - the 'go and drive them' comments need to stop on forums. I'm asking for other's opinions in their decision making process. That is not something I can get from my own driving experiences. Other people won't make my decision for me, but I am interested in their own journey, and how they got to where they are.

So how much are you all spending on your cars, with options, if you don’t mind me asking?
I’m trying tospec my Boxster S and it’s topping 70k with the options I want.
My GTS build comes out at £78k.I’m trying tospec my Boxster S and it’s topping 70k with the options I want.
Using Man Maths means that I start from a base price of £70k because in my world PDK isn't an option it's the starting point.
10% on top of that is a reasonable expectation for a sensible spec, if you can keep it under 5% then you are doing quite well.
I like the plethora of options, however, the downside is people see the starting price and think its a 60 or 70K car, the S is a 70k car, GTS 80k etc especially once you add in the 2k tax bill for the pleasure of buying a new car these days.
I started looking at a 981 GTS. It was lovely but not the right colours. But decided I’d like to be a new car owner so specced a base 718. Then realised not getting the 718T was illogical. Then with options I’m in 718S money so changed the order as for just a couple of grand more I get the ‘one I always wanted’.
Now looking at second hand again because the 73k 718S looks a lot of money. And I’m impatient.
Can you get a Boxster 4.0 second hand… no, too early….
Such a hard subject this. I’ve actually thought about cancelling…!

I actually placed an order for GT4 as I thought it was an ultimate ‘get to the office machine’. The OPC lend me one for a day and I quickly realized that it’s not a good idea, at least in the area where I live and drive. Then I took the GTS 4.0 and I had to have one of those!
Sadly, I decided that I really need 992 C2S before they go extinct in fossil-fuel configuration and I changed my order. in the meantime China broke semiconductor supply chain, and rasPutin broke wiring harness and other parts supply… and I am still waiting.
Luckily I have my Boxster which is such a pleasure to ride, so not a problem, just inconvenience.
I still maintain, go and ride it on the roads you frequent. Take your partner with, as e.g. speed-bumps or uneven roads in the driver seat and in passenger seat are entirely different proposition.
The GT4 vs others debate to me seems a bit overdone.
A key factor behind Porsche’s popularity is that they provide their superb dynamics in a package that is practical and usable every day in nearly all conditions. The base/S/GTS models are all equally useable and similarly exploitable on the road. The GT 3/4 is a focussed, specialist car with a far narrower usability window for most. When the circumstances allow, however, it’s a decent leap up, but on our pock-marked roads, the opportunity to get the most out of them is obviously quite limited.
Obviously there are the very enthusiastic folks who drive a GT3RS through Central London to get to work each day, but for most, that isn’t especially enjoyable. The vast majority of us would get more enjoyment (and performance) out of a non GT-division car almost all of the time. I certainly do.
I’d love a GT4, but it would have to be alongside, not instead of.. I’m not sure that’s a topic I’m prepared to broach with my wife just yet

Thanks all that replied on the sticky subject of price paid. I realise that for many it’s a taboo subject, if you have to ask, you shouldn’t higher etc…..

Personally I think spending £73k on a 718S is daft. That’s lightly specced GTS money, but then the GTS I’ve specced is lightly specced GT4 money… that solves itself though as I can’t get a GT4.I started looking at a 981 GTS. Question: does anyone have carbon buckets and hasn’t got them for track use, how are they for extended drives, everyday comfort, getting in and out of the car?
I have buckets, no problem with comfort on extended drives (longest 4 hrs without stopping so far), or indeed everyday comfort BUT I find them a pain in the arse getting in and out. As it's not my daily the benefits outweigh the drawbacks for me, but if you are planning on using a car with buckets on a daily basis etc. personally I'd think twice.Greedydog said:

Won’t be a daily. It will be a weekend toy to use when I want to. I like a spirited drive but unlikely to ever take it to a track. I’m just thinking it might add greatly to the experience - and they look fantastic!Greedydog said:

1. it was out of my price range
2. They are made from Unobtainium unless you're a very good customer of Porsche.
I also like to think of the GTS as a tourer rather than a full on track car that the GT4 is.
I specced about £8k in options on mine.
Paint
PDK
Racetex with extended leather
Dual climate
Auto dimming mirrors
Folding mirrors
Speed limit indicator
PDLS
Light package
Heated MF steering wheel
Smoking package
Seatbelts silver/grey
Porsche crest on storage compartment.
Keeping the Alcantara steering wheel is pretty straight forward as Twinfan has said before. I simple brush after each drive will keep the pile nice and soft and help reduce the matting effect.

...and re soft top cars. I went Boxster GTS vs Spyder as:
1. The Spyder's lower and doesn't have FAL, which would be a PITA given the local speed bump situation here
2. I'm too lazy to bother with the Spyder's hood arrangements, and like to be able to drop / raise the roof from the driver's seat
If both of the above were resolved I'd have gone Spyder.

Totally agree with this. I had the full carbon bucket in a Carrera T, lovely seat, comfortable, focused, great driving position and made the cabin feel more purposeful. However, an absolute pain in the ass to get in and out when in car parks and you can’t open the door wide. Gets so bad, you avoid taking it places. Be warned.
Thanks for the dose of reality there - exactly the type of constructive feedback I was hoping for…. & you’ve now saved me knocking on £4k!rwillia2 said:

Thanks for the dose of reality there - exactly the type of constructive feedback I was hoping for…. & you’ve now saved me knocking on £4k!i have the folding buckets, use my car (981 GTS) as a daily, have parked in some tight spots and have been OK getting in and out. when that happens i find sliding the seat back helps a lot
but then i'm only 5'9'' and medium build. if you're tall and (respectfully) a bit bigger build wise then i agree - think twice
for me the occasional pain is worth the pleasure
just opening the door is still a buzz even after 5 years and i find the buckets more comfortable than the other seat options i've tried
Hi all, Is anyone hearing of further delays on 718's ?
My gts should have been built 4 weeks ago now, dates have been pushed back twice the latest being last week, but it's still not built and dates are still showing the same completion date with delivery mid August which is almost impossible now.
