I am very close too, the price is a bit much imo as a daily.
All mouth and no trousers from you as usual then wink

It's cheaper than the 718 Spyder than you tried so hard to get hold of...

flip the GT4 with the OPC make £5k and order one of these.
you save £11k and your OPC love you for ever.
I reckon we will see a lot of this actually.. as its win-win for orderer and OPC.
For most people currently ordering GT4/Spyder - the chassis is wasted on them - so its a trinket. They will never experience or identify the difference.

Interestingly I wonder if we are at a bell weather point for GTS vs GT vs RS.
For 718 GTS vs GT4 Twins the engine is the same but chassis is different road v track. Means Porsche can get maximum return on investment for engine development and drive profit.
I wonder if we will see the same in the 992 911 - GT3 has become more and more daily each gen. Then we get a cross over model in the 991 with the Touring but without back seats. I wonder if this time will get get a new 992 GTS - that has GT3 base engine - but road chassis + rear seat option.
There will be no GT3 Touring - as its now the GTS - as it should always have been. And then the GT3 get the GT engine, GT Track chassis. RS is the full on track rat.... no compromise for road.... but happened to be great on road anyway. and then WP for those that want to show how much money they have, or how important they are to their OPC and/or friends and forums.

Shows what's been lost recently. A few years ago a 6 NA Boxster was no big deal!

These make alot of the range redundant. Apart from looks, who needs a Spyder? GT4 if you're tracking.

A 911 looks daft, unless you need the back seats. I'd definitely be after one only for that.

You all reckon that the new GT4 doesn’t sound as good as the old version . So apart for the 6 cylinder power delivery what’s the different to the original 718 gts have they changed anything else other than the engine which they are charging an extra £3k for . Any details of performance comparisons between the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder yet ?

New 6-cylinder 718 GTS won't sound the same as the 981 GTS - but it will be better than the 4-pot GTS.
Also people prefer NA power delivery rather that boosted turbo for sports cars.

That what people care about.... its irrational.. but that what sports cars are.

I disagree - the GT chassis is a step up from the regular models and you feel it every time you drive the car. The 981 GT4 chassis is still more feelsome than the 718 non-GT chassis in my experience, so I'm expecting the 718 GT4 chassis to be another notch up when I drive one in a few weeks.

Just because you don't drive on track it doesn't mean you can't appreciate the chassis differences.

Being advised these will be fairly restricted supply, not many coming in, perhaps 250 in total.....

So getting one wont be a lot easier than a GT4 or Spyder.

In cabin the 718 GT4 and Spyder sound absolutely fine.... different - but fine.
Outside is where the issue is and really you can get over it.
So the new GTS' will be the same....fine in cabin.

Does this now make the 4 cylinder GTS a future classic due to limited numbers ? Does any body know how many were produced?

They should drop the silly 718 moniker for the 6 Cylinder cars... or just drop it in full.

Well this is what I have been waiting for, although in recent I think this might be a fall back if I don't get a GT4. But I will be going down to the OPC at the weekend.

My spec: http://www.porsche-code.com/PLQZRRW6

Quite restrained I think, but I don't think it needs much, the green is nice, but it would be a toss up between Midnight and Gentian blue for me.

I've always said the GT chassis is different to the rest of the Cayster range, and I still don't think it's a must-have in a pure road car smile
