What oil is specified for our engines?

I thought it was Mobil 1 but that only lasts 15k miles: https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-v...

Also: "Additional requirements for all Mobil Full Synthetic products include: 1) Oils must be put in service not later than five (5) years from the date of purchase; and 2) an oil change must be completed every six (6) months."

From: https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-v...

I read that as Mobil guarantee Mobil 1 up to 15k miles, but always follow your manufacturer guidelines. If Porsche say 20k is fine, then do what Porsche says.

Is it confirmed that the 718 gen cars are not going to get refresh styling or mechanical any time soon? I.e in next 2-3years?

I.e that these 4.0 GTS aren't run out models?

Anyone received confirmation of a build slot yet or asked to lock down spec?

Fairly sure they are, in terms of ICE power plant anyhow...

What if they are? All cars get old, sooner or later. The best chosen ones improve with age.

As far as oil is concerned, is it a problem for the OPC if your engine packs it? Either the Warranty or you will cover it. For an M4, there is an obligatory 1,000 mile running in service, covered in the price. IMHO, always change the oil annually in a high performance vehicle.

To my eye the 981/718 design is one of the best looking ever to emerge from Porsche, and among the best mid-price sports cars of all time. IMO they'd be crazy to move it very far from where it is.

My bet is Porsche's design budget is almost exclusively focused on electrics and their completely different packaging. In terms of further investment petrol cars must be entering their run-out phase right across the industry.

I agree with both points, think they still look incredibly fresh. The only thing holding me back was whether this model would quickly be surpassed in terms of dynamic tech.

Anyway I placed my deposit too, and no word on allocations to dealers but I’m not in a rush. End of 2020 would be fine.

I agree with this, they will be spending so much time wondering how to make cars weighed down by tons of batteries handle in any meaningful understanding of the term, that they won't be doing much more chassis development for ICE units. Not that they need to, they are so good as they are.

At least with an ICE car you know exactly what you are getting, with a Taycan or similar you don't, it will be subject to so much development, and the technology is so obviously useless that it will be superseded.

I'm guessing you would want to have your deal done before the end of Boris's Transition period though.

1st post in here - go easy on me....

Has anybody here tested/driven a GTS 4.0 ?
This is the first new Porsche I've ever driven. The 2.5 GTS engine was underwhelming, so how have you convinced yourself to go with the 4.0 if you haven't driven ?

Because the normally aspirated flat 6 is a more-or-less known quantity. People who liked the 3.4 or 3.8 engines are very likely to like the 4.0. The only real question is whether the particulate filter has muted to sound to the point where it is no longer as attractive as it was.

How exciting. I am number 2 on the list for a Cayman at my OPC but I haven't heard anything yet. Where were you on your OPC's list and how many build slots did they have allocated for May?

I heard from another OPC (not the one I’ve ordered mine through) that they’ve had their year allocation through and couldn’t fulfil another order this year. Strange some know and others don’t.

They all find out at the same time, I heard another OPC got allocated 2 build slots for Q2.

I'm first at the OPC at which I ordered and I haven't heard yet.
