my 2020 todo list . . .
Discussion
here is some of my "2010 Spyder with 120,000 miles" 2020 todo list . . . .
1 = complete new OEM suspension
2 = engine and gearbox mounts
3 = seat refurb OR new seats
4 = major service + PDK oil + clutch plate reset + coil packs
5 = ultra deep valet
6 = steering wheel refurbishment
I am after some advice for #3 . . . the seats
I have a few options - the seats are in really good condition, but could do with some love, or I just leave them as is. I have looked into recovering, used seats on eBay but am drawn (at the moment) to a new pair of seats - I really like the Recaro Pole Position in Black Leather - ideally with heating
Anyone have any experience of Recaro's in a Porsche?

I sat in some pole positions (nomex) the other day - albeit in an AMG Black Series... best seats ever.1 = complete new OEM suspension

Much respect and Kudos to you and how you use your car.
I had Pole Positions in a 911 for many years. Yes they are very good seats, though they (like almost all buckets) can do with a little extra lumbar support and a little extra under the bum padding. I strategically added some sheets of 7mm closed cell foam behind the back rest cushions to slightly build up the lumbar (otherwise I ended up with a rolled up microfibre cloth being added on long trips) and a sheet of memory foam under the bottom cushion. Having tried Recaro, Corbeau and Sparcos over the years, the only ones that didn't need extra padding for long trips were the Sparcos, which had a much more plush, almost old school French car type of cushion. The best seats I have used are the BMW CSL seats, which are apparently Recaro shells but with lower sides and thicker cushions.

I have never needed to add lumbar support to any bucket seated car, you are not supposed to feel that part on your back !! most people get it VERY wrong with that part of the seat. I did a course with SAAB back in the day, then had to teach 2000 people how to sit and adjust a seat as to not have back issues.$0.02
buckets ie. poles and oem Porsche are softer to sit on that non buckets btw.
So they are very soft to sit in, softer than any oem Porsche non bucket, . imo the prefect road race seat. yes BMW CSL is a modded pole pos.
I love the way BMW and Merc fit these to their high end cars, Porsche miss a trick here as they are so light also in Carbon form. but people buy the cheap £700k ones, bmw and Merc fit real carbon and leather/alcantra ones which are about £15k to buy from them. Its odd recaro don't offer this combo look. But you can buy Carbon/cloth for £5k a pair inc rails.
OP, you can have these lovely Cobra Nogaros with seat heating and lumbar if your heart so desires :-
You can also spec full leather, or part Dynamica (essentially different trade name for Alcantara) and in different colours / combined colour combos.
Most importantly, you can have contrast stitching (known to some on here as 'deviated' stitching).
They are also up for you sending them your own OE seat heating pads if you have seat heating already so it is plug and play and you retain your button control - I've done that. If you don't have OE seat heating, and ask for heating then you get a kit with new buttons. I can dig out the exact pad details that they use if anyone is interested, but they are two stage heat jobbies.
I got a note today stating that my seats should be ready in the next 3-4 days (full black leather, red stitching). Looking forward to them immensely
