Just starting to look at GT4s, that one at Better Performance is the only clubsport I've seen under £70k - has it always been at that price?
Think it was 71k and bit a few weeks a ago. Maybe 71,8k? Definitely a bit over 71 anyway.Dunc.
I thought this car sold recently on CC, looks like it’s back up for sale again and the original buyer may of pulled out.
Be interesting to see what it gets bid to and if it sells, the number of used gt cars available for sale seems to be growing daily lately.

I wonder how the excess of 718 GT4s (over 100 currently and rising) in the market is going to effect 981 GT4 values long term.
I have zero interest in 718 - I think the steering is not half as good compared to 981s personally but I get most people will probably assume the later car is a better car for them.
Thoughts?
Give me a shout on that in 2032 and I'll give it further thought! I have zero interest in 718 - I think the steering is not half as good compared to 981s personally but I get most people will probably assume the later car is a better car for them.

My 981 GT4 is going nowhere anytime soon. Last track day I attended, about 3 718 GT4 owners asked what exhaust system I had gone for. It's all completely standard. I can pretty much keep up with the 718 GT4s (they are definitely a quicker car though), I like the original GT4 a lot, and it sounds and feels insanely good to drive. Hopefully those qualities might be marketable while I'm still alive, but if they are not, why would I care? I can just keep it and enjoy it!

Had mine since February- absolutely love it. Almost went for a 718 GT4 (actually also have a deposit on a new one- which i will need to cancel). So glad i went for a 981 GT4- as a weekend car, with bucket seats, harnesses and carbon ceramics- its perfect- amazing experience to drive. Think this is a for ever keeper- everything else comes alongside in future.

There are over 100 and rising 718’s for sale
wow, had no idea there were so manywhat happened?
Buyers now have a choice of a good used 981 GT4 at around £70k and 5-7 years old, a newish 718 GT4 at £90-100k and 0-3 years old, or the off-chance that they might find an allocation in 2023-24, and at similar money to a newish used one. This means there are probably a few more GT4s available than there are people wanting to buy them. It might mean we see a bit of short-medium term depreciation, but I guess no worse than people buying other marques/brands put up with habitually.
In the longer term? They will never be amazingly hard to find; I'm guessing 1500 to 2000 between both models on the UK market eventually. Unlike Ford Sierra and Escort Cosworth, most will get well looked after and survive, so unlikely to go stratospheric in value compared to new price. 981 will probably hold a slightly higher price than 718 for being more raw, rorty and "the original", as well as being a little bit rarer. 718 is objectively a better car in many ways.
My best advice, to anyone interested in owning one, would be to expect the used market to bottom out some time next year, maybe the year after. Just how far under the new price remains to be seen, but it could get into bargain territory. Then aim to hang on to the car at least until the mainstream is all hybrid or electric. Cars will get better in general I am sure, but these are probably the last of the great "naturally aspirated" small sports cars with decent size engines. As "Supercar Junior" goes, I'm not sure they will ever be bettered by anything petrol powered.

My 2016 981 GT4 was bought used, quite amazingly thinking about it now time has rushed past, 4 years ago at the beginning of this month. I might have the opportunity to try to find £30-40k to swap it for a new 718 GT4 next year. I'm finding it pretty much impossible to figure out why that would be a good idea."Love it" doesn't come close. Back at the beginning of this year, the driver from the OPC was picking up my base 718 Cayman for some service work. I said I thought the base 718 a better car than the 981 GT4 (which he has also picked up on occasion), because it's so much more refined. He corrected me, and asked me this: Whenever else does anyone get to drive a road legal track car to work every day?
He made an amazingly good point, and thus made sure I enjoyed the 981 GT4 over the spring, summer and early autumn this year. Lots of road driving, just the one track day; I just put it to bed, spotlessly clean, with an indoor car cover and on SORN for now. There's a set of spare wheels (718 GT4, more available and cheaper, also spotlessly clean) next to it, with track day tyres fitted and ready to go for when the time comes.
If there was ever a road car made better suited to me, I'd love to know. I think this is as good as it gets in my lifetime.

It’s funny really how different we all are. I think the 718 steering is a step back - just don’t understand why Porsche has taken out the feedback/feel that’s in the 981 , yet others will say it more refined and easier to drive and therefore better.
I suppose the 718 would be better for a daily (fuel economy, comfort, light clutch etc). Not sure if want to daily my 981 5 days a week in heavy traffic.

Evening all
Does anyone know this 981 GT4 for sale at Colchester Porsche?
Nice spec and low miles, so at the top of the current 981 GT4 retail prices (£75k). The yellow paint and 5 owners might divide some opinions, but neither troubles me (I like yellow on the GT4!).
I've been offered a 40 month PCP leaving about £45k at the end - I doubt there will be much (if any) equity in the car after three and a half years, but I suppose you're only here once!
Anyone have any thoughts on it? I guess my main concern is that it's not a massive financial stretch to a 4.0 GT4.

That’s the top of the 981 market. Does anyone know this 981 GT4 for sale at Colchester Porsche?

I think you might find it's a bit of a leap up to a used 718 GT4 in the same spec. As for equity in 3 1/2 years, I bought my 981 GT4 4 years ago for £85k. I've put about 11,000 miles on it I think. Given its current value, I'll be really surprised if it drops as low as £45k over the next 40 months. Your risk of course, but I think if you look after it you'll be fine. Might even be better than fine as proper NA petrol cars continue to disappear from the market.Does anyone know this 981 GT4 for sale at Colchester Porsche?

You need to get a drive in a 718 GT4 as well as a 981 to see which you prefer. They are quite different, and not in ways that one is simply "better" than the other.

Very interesting and true. Funnily enough I was responding to an IG post yesterday and some asked.. better? I said.. Better is a big word! LiamH66 said:

Hey mate, I dropped you a message I’m in the market for a GT4 myself in around a week. Have been monitoring the market and it seems awash with options at the min.
I’m leaning toward the newer car, simply due to the age difference.
Ideally want a CS with PCCB and buckets. There are a few options but it does limit the selection.
