718 GT4 UK Allocations

sorry newbie question here - what is this 'app' you speak of? something the OPC sees or actually something accessible by the end consumer? cheers!
The “My Porsche” app. Once your order is linked into the internal system by your SA you’ll receive an email to link your car to the app. In the US it has a full build tracker with status and lots of pics along the way, but in the UK they simply add one photo of the car to the “my garage” section of the app of it when it’s at the end of its build. Seems to have been a bit sporadic recently though with some people not getting the picture. GT4RS said:

Each to their own, but I think it’s looks lovely (both inside and out). I agree the price is optimistic!
I also think it looks great, imo the price reflects the PTS, Pdk box and ceramics. He’s probably got a little wiggle room in his price…..As PTS greens go, I think people would happily pay overs for a green within the Porsche swatches, but not Aston Martins.
Poorly commissioned vanity project gone wrong in my opinion.

Probably something wrong with me, but I actually like it…. More importantly for me my new GT4 has just arrived at the dealer and being PDI’d now. 3 weeks later than originally forecast, but considering I only walked into the dealer and got a random slot in a January this year, I think that’s a result 👍
I went for conservative black though….
Pics to follow and really glad to be back in the Porsche fold after 16 years away 😀

And this is the reason why you should never listen to anybody saying it’s a waste of time enquiring about a GT4! A little bit of luck and perseverance goes a long way…I went for conservative black though….

Given that the poster is in Jersey, and I assume bought from OPC Jersey, I'd say it's not representative of most OPCs on the mainland given the location and potential customers.
Obviously there are exceptions, and the 718 GT4 has been out for 3 years now, but allocations are still fairly limited it seems.

Genuine question. Do you think there are many people in the UK who really wanted a GT4 over any other car, have put in a real effort to get one and been prepared to wait, who have not been able to get an allocation? Perfect car in my view but lots round my way who wouldn’t look past a 911, so I wonder whether the c 900 (a guess) 718 GT4s will be about right for the market. And if there were many more, half those that bought one would probably not have done. Great - thanks for that info... interesting that my sales guy has not mentioned the app or tracking the car at all at any point during the process..! I'll chase him tomorrow and see if I can't get my order linked ... is it just me or is the sales/order process with Porsche super frustrating... it could be made so much more transparent and enjoyable... for most people (me included) its a dream car and probably a once in a lifetime experience.. the communication and customer experience could be improved so easily, which apart from anything else would stop me bugging my sales contact for information every 5 mins

I think those people who got in early enough will have got a car by now. But there are people just starting the process all the time so there's aways an element of competition. However, I think that competition is waning but so supply has been too. Porsche, as always, are playing the game well and only just providing enough cars at just the right rate.Curledge said:

It’s certainly a marmite colour choice! Personally I would sacrifice PTS and look for a cheaper car (non PTS colour) with spec options such as clubsport etc which this car doesn’t have.Looks like a dogs breakfast to me.

I think the Aurum gold works fine against the green but brake callipers should have been black.
My favourite green PTS would have been Jet Green Metallic.

I’m not quite sure how anyone choosing the spec they want drifts into it being a ‘vanity project’ or simply being the car they fancy ordering !
Has anyone got an Arctic Grey incoming any time soon ? I was specced with Shark Blue but saw 3 over the weekend so changed to Arctic to try and be a little more individual . I’m just not 100% set on it yet so would be great to see one …. I’ll end up changing to my standard white by lockdown … I can see it now …
