As I understand it, it's a supply thing. There are the 911 Dakars, GT3s and GT3RSs which need buckets right now, plus they're standard fitment on the GT4RS so they have to have them too. Something has to give, so it's the GT4 which is ending production shortly according to all available info.
Buckets currently 'unavailable' on new GT3 spec configurator too so it isn't an issue specific to GT4s.
Av185 I see you conveniently ignored my last post to you ??
I haven't ignored it conveniently or otherwise! biggrin:

Don't get so defensive about mileage ffs! I wasn't criticising you for doing only a few miles in your new GT4 before you flipped it for a big profit a few weeks later! It was your car to do what you want with after all. It does seem a bit odd though you keep saying you sold it as the front ground clearance into your garage was insufficient and yet the photo you posted of your car clearly showed a very level approach!

Anyway whatever not that bothered tbh but my point related to the comparable shark blue car at £105950....what was the mileage on that car? Also don't forget that car is now around 12 months old whereas yours was only a few weeks old when you sold it so realistically you need to look at 2023 GT4 prices not 2022.

I bought this yesterday after wanting a GT4 since the 981 was announced. Its quite a nice comfort spec (18 ways, extended leather, PDLS+ etc) though it's definitely not forum approved. Moon mileage too (12.5k). I absolutely love it!

Very nice, I hope you enjoy it. I see you've had or have an S2 Exige. I'll be interested to hear your views on how they compare. Although I'll be able to do that too soon as I've had an S2 and am about to get a GT4. I'm hoping the GT4 is that perfect middle ground now I'm 40 something and my Wife can get in it 🤣

I suppose you're fine if you're buying something that nobody wants.
I was actually quite shocked what they all came with for 30k a car, the guys like them and that’s what matters.

It’s interesting that some people now don’t want a new GT4 order now the buckets are not available, finance payments are higher and depreciation has set back in 😊

Be shocked if new gt3 orders get handed back for no buckets being available, but you never know only time will tell.

Jesus I have a storker!

I thought you had to make profit to be a flipper, the dealer made the money not me, as I have said before it wasn’t an easy sell.

Your more welcome to visit my personal home with your tape measure and gt4, I will even make you a coffee 👍

Come on how many miles have you done in your cars?

If your Gt4 was one of the first and you knocked me for only doing 600 miles in 4 months yours must have big miles on it considering it’s age. I’m guessing around a 3k to 4k miles a year so around 10k by now?

I'd have done the same or hunted for a lightly used one in my spec.
Hence why there are currently no 718's for sale In the network with PDLS, PCCB, CS, PDK and 918 seats.
“Lightly used”? :-/

They’re all under warranty and there’s no correlation between a car that’s only got a few hundred miles on after a couple of years is going to be as cared for as one that’s actually been driven

Mine has just over 10k miles and is it better condition than many I’ve seen, both inside and out

Side bolster protectors for the seats, as one example. PPF without any miles going on it first etc

YMMV but I know cars that have sat with covers on them that have barely moved and have worse paintwork than those that get driven!

The GT silver really shows off the feature lines. Guards red was definitely my second choice.

Would have loved yellow calipers, but instead I’ll have to cope with the cast iron brakes. It’s even got red stitch which I think is a big no no for resale.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer my questions during my search.

GT Silver with red stitching is actually a very desirable combo.

Thanks v much, and also to the other posters.

I still have an S2, a 2010 cup 260 (with radio!) that was substantially restored to better than new a couple of years ago and is a total honey. I am very lucky and have no plans to sell it even with the GT4 arriving.

What follows is a bit of a stream of consciousness and I make no apologies for it.

I've had a few lotus' before getting the GT4, including an Evora 400 and a V6 Exige S which are probably the best comparisons. However you asked about how it compares to an S2 - well in summary the S2 (even my cup) is like a kit car go kart. Key pluses are that the carbon fibre seats are mounted better, the steering is unassisted and has more feel and its super sharp to drive and feels more agile. Also it looks like a mini racing car and, in the case of my one, is covered in carbon fibre. And has a roof scoop, which is worth at least 100hp standing still. Fact. But the GT4 is a lot more usable, the engine is spectacular in comparison to the S2 (and most others frankly), and in my heart of hearts I know the GT4 will be faster round any given track even in my comfort spec form. The ride is somewhere between the Evora 400 and the V6 exige, with the evora being better and the exige worse. Its better built and rattles less than any of my lotus'. The gearbox is a work of art and feels amazing to use (and, unlike the 400, doesn't make an annoying whine at low revs). It sounds pretty good to my ears in isolation - it's quite loud in the cabin (my wife hasn't experienced it yet) but I don't need earplugs, whereas I do in the exige as it sets off my tinnitus. The exige is an event to drive and at the right time and place i still think I'd prefer it to anything else. But the GT4 is almost as much of an event and can be driven every day, the chassis is better and the exige can get quite spiky when grip runs out. Practical too with two boots. My wife should be able to get comfortable in it given the degree of adjustability in the seats, whereas she was unable to drive the Evora as couldnt reach the bottom of the clutch pedal! Exiges are ok in that respect. Also the headlights are AMAZING compared to any exige. Try one and I think you'll be sold. It best compares to some sort of V6 exige - I really loved mine and wish I hadn't sold it for the Evora, but the GT4 is like a V6 exige with a much bigger development budget and an amazing engine. Early days of course but I am smitten.

I'm early 40s also and it does feel like a slightly(!) more grown up and mature(!) V6 exige. The GT4 is the only Porsche I've ever really wanted, 911s even GT3 don't really do it for me and nor do lesser caymans. It feels like a car lotus (old lotus) could have built, if only they had the resources. (Whereas the new Emira does absolutely nothing for me (I had a really early deposit and pulled it when I saw the display car at the local dealer in late 2021), and the forthcoming white goods electric lotus even less than that.)

I'm feeling pretty chuffed now that mine's arrived. I happened to be in the right time/place for a cancelled order. I can just about live without PDSLs because it has CS and PCCBs. I'd love to do something with the lights though, they really are rubbish! I image improved xenon bulbs would help?

Anyway, it was my first ever drive in a GT4 tonight, I'm so glad I enjoyed it. smile

I'm assuming you have the standard headlights (silver surround) and not the PDLS, which are Xenon's with dynamic movement. The PDLS have black surrounds and 4 small led lights similar to a 911 lights.

The reason I say this as I have the Black PDLS Xenon's and I think they are excellent and very bright. The PDLS+, which are LED, were not available to order and therefore the PDLS make do with Xenon and no auto highbeam.

This is prior to them adapting the PDLS to the same LED appearance as the + and removing the xenon headlight.

I'm coming from a car with laser lights and find the Xenon's to be very good.

3 gone yesterday. It's great (but not unsurprising to me and a many other on here) to see these getting snapped up. driving

Go back 10 or so pages and certain doom-mongers were spouting bks about prices falling through the roof, a flooded market, buyers market only with huge discounts to be had, price crashes etc etc etc. rolleyes

Haha quite and as anticipated it appears there was a buying frenzy over this last week for Porsche GTs in general as usual early March resulting in only 24 used OPC GT4s left now of which only 11 have buckets (almost parity with 6 manuals and 5 PDKs despite far fewer PDK manufacturing numbers.)
