How come 7-800 981 GT4s when "How many left" has consistently had a total of 550-560 and new registrations of 598. Does that web-site leave some off?

718 GT4 (non RS models) are around 870.

All to end of September.

By the time production ends they would have sold 2000 plus gt4 cars in the uk alone making them good profit.
I don't know about "2000 plus", that sounds a bit high. I reckon it'll end up around 1500-ish.
We know there are around 600 to 700 981 gt4 in the Uk and around we believe 1200 718 gt4 for the Uk. 2000 plus may be a little high, but my guess is it will definitely be closer to 2000 than 1500.

The numbers show it has been a big success for Porsche and clearly makes them good profit globally.

Either way both are great cars and represent excellent value for money and are ideal for those who can’t get into a 911 gt3 or 718 gt4 rs.

Be interesting to see what the next generation of gt4 is like.
They'll be nowhere near 2k 718 GT4's
Remember Covid sat right in the middle of the production run.

Glad I got mine when I did!

The DVLA register numbers are 605 981 GT4s registered.

Up to end Q3 2022 there are 957 718 GT4s registered, so that's 12 quarters (Q4 2019 to Q3 2022, an average of 80 cars per quarter). So around 1200 cars is going to be the final number.

Twice as many 718s and 981s, which sounds about right to me.

Quiet but fast, probably a bit hefty and not cheap.

They drive nicely !
They certainly do.

Halfway between a Cayman GTS and GT4.

Great drop dead looking usable sports car at the money.
Build quality is a question mark though isn't it, plus I'm personally not interested in anything "softer" than a GT4. I'd go more extreme than more comfortable.
Don't think build quality is actually an issue any more T now with Geeley at the helm...... unlike Lotus of old. Spent a day recently driving an Emira and was most impressed with the car overall no squeaks rattles etc very usable most engaging package overall and looking forward to mine arriving in June.
I also had one for a day and much the same, quality was good no rattles at all. I was impressed and if I had not just taken delivery of my GT3 I'd have had one.

So between 1800 to 1900 combined which hopefully mean the ones who want one second hand have a fair chance as they get older.

Be interesting seeing final numbers for 718 GT4 'manuel' v PDK suspect a large proportion of the later run cars were PDK.

I've got to go and spec mine on Tuesday (a little more difficult now I can't play with the configurator anymore!)

With that in mind, what's the general consensus on clubsport? I can't see me ever selling this car, so I'm not bothered about resale. Budget isn't a problem either. So far, the essentials for me are:

- buckets
- leather dash/contrast stitch
- bose
- PDK

I'm not sure if I've missed anything? My current config has the PDLS but I'm not sure I even need that - I just had the standard lights on my Macan and they're decent, I also don't think I'll be driving this car in the dark often if at all (it'll be a 4th car - pure toy).

I'm hoping to do the odd trackday in it but it's certainly not going to be a 'track car', I tried the harnesses in a showroom car and found them pretty uncomfortable, I wouldn't want them for road use and they're a bit of a pain left dangling in the seat all year for a couple of track days! I actively don't want PCCB's, I'm not keen on the feel and they can be noisy from previous experience. I won't be tracking it enough to get the benefit - unless I'm making a terrible mistake here?

If its mainly for use as a road car forget the cage which adds weight and creaks a bit but depends if you want the kudos of CS and you will get your money back on resale anyway.

Bose is expensive and a waste of time imo on Porsche GTs but each to their own. The standard lights are excellent I have them on mine.

So the 718 GT4 has been on sale for 4 years compared to the 981 GT4s 2. Any Idea of numbers re the 718?
I think the 981 number about 500 in the UK>
Probably end up around 1100 to 1200 718 gt4 Uk cars.

I’m sure it broke the 1000 mark a few months back.

Cracking car for the money.
And possibly no longer meeting Porsche's profit criteria .... especially if they can switch people down to the GTS with more options or up to the GT4RS / GT3 ?
I’m not sure, it sits in a sweet spot price wise. By the time production ends they would have sold 2000 plus gt4 cars in the uk alone making them good profit.

And if Porsche could build an unlimited number of all their cars I would agree with you. But the money men are looking at margin per unit sales .... and the GT4 was at a real sweet spot price wise for a very good reason ... how much more does a GT3 actually cost vs sell for ? Or a GT4RS ?? Or a GTS with lots of extras ?

My dealer told me 718 GT4 orders were about 70% manual, 30% PDK.

I have one of the last build slots and I've gone for the PDK so maybe your theory is right. I know the manual is the purist option and a dying breed, but for me I just preferred the car with the PDK.

I expect the eGT4 to be different somehow. Ideally I would like to get a deposit down on one.

Don't know if others are aware but the VED on the 718 GT4 along with most other cars increases from £520 to £570 for 12 months from midnight tonight April 1st.

Didn't realise this but you can apply for VED up to two days before the start of the next month to commence from the 1st April at the existing £520 rate thus saving £50. Unusual for DVLA to be so generous.

Just taxed mine having come off sorns.

Thank me later. thumbupbiggrin:

Both are great gearboxes for sure.

Agree with av on Bose I have sound plus on my GT4 and I think its better than the Bose on my GTS!
I personally like Dual climate- much better than standard, also a fan of PDLS plus. My car came with cruise control which unless you live in France is also a waste in UK. My car also came with a fire extinguisher which weighs about 10K so now resides in my office! The car is insured if it catches fire.

Bose is a tricky one - having done the experience day at Silverstone I know how noisy the GT4 is on the road, my logic was if the Bose is more powerful then I have more chance of hearing it! I'll no doubt end up taking this car on some big roadtrips, so it would be nice to be able to hear music/podcasts whilst sat on the motorway.

Is there more kudos for CS?

Thanks to everyone kind advice I ended up going for a test drive aaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnddddddddd I ended up buying it on the spot laugh

Looking to go collect Tuesday need to get it insured.

Anyone recommend an insurance company? I haven’t had anything like this before or are the main companies like Direct Line still the best?
