New GTS or GT4

Why whats wrong with it? Hardly a crazy suggestion. You might not agree with it, but I bet many people would like the GTS to have a fixed wing for a bit of extra drama.
i apologise - i could have made my point differently but i maintain that it's an ill advised suggestion.i think you'd find more people that would want to take the wing off the GT4 than would want to put a big wing on the GTS. the 718 GTS is pretty tame styling wise by GTS standards (or any standard), so sticking a big wing on it just doesn't suit the car and would be like dressing up for a dinner party and complementing your attire with a brightly coloured backward pointing sports cap on your head.
as an R owner i thought you'd be into a more subtle approach
i get that the R also has a wing but again, i think it would look even better without. the lower stance and the subtle detailing is more than enough to set it apart.

I agree the GTS is a bit tame looking (though I guess its understated vibe is cool), kind of why I would assume some folk might want to give it a bit more gravitas with a fixed wing....which that TechArt one (by TechArt standards, which is usually OTT and gauche, aint a bad option). But yep, each to their own! Unsure why I commented as I am happy with my R and have no intention of buying a GTS ever! I think the wing on the R does help set it apart and suit its stance, but again, the world would be boring if we all liked the same thing!
Best regards

Gts does look a bit underwhelming hence imo needs a funky colour .
I prefer the look of the T for sure.
All lovely cars and over the range cover most tastes.
A GTS in a sobre colour is a real Q-sportscar IMO. Whilst I am a GT person myself, I can see the big appeal of the formerI prefer the look of the T for sure.

A nicely understated, classy and stealthy one here :https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202010155...
No GT4-esque Techart rear wing required here methinks Julian

Straight to the crusher.
I can’t help but wonder how much of what Andrew Frankl finds as being that indefinable extra that makes the GT4 “worth it” over a GTS is down to the Cup tyres, which on a dry road will of course give something extra I. Feel and precision over a all round road tyre.
Especially as most GTS car come on P-Zeros (although some are lucky enough to get PS4S)
It would be interesting to try both cars in the same tyres.

You're ignoring the GT suspension hardware and PASM mapping. This is where the biggest difference lies IMHO.Especially as most GTS car come on P-Zeros (although some are lucky enough to get PS4S)

Really sad and unfortunate to read the advert that the owner details he has lost his confidence to drive after 3 eye ops since his original order and the Covid lockdown. Poor fella. looks like a very nice car, even without a rear wing https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202010155...

No, I’m not ignoring the suspension differences. But it would be interesting to discover how much of the difference is due to those suspension changes and how much due to the tyres. That’s all. Wollemi said:

GTS is lighter which is good, to get the best from the GT4 you really have got to drive it VERY hard, a GTS with cup 2 on will be a mighty car. GT3 front end is hyper bole imo, and the rear ends fixed so that’s crap.GT4 for me was too good a car for the road hence ultimately dull.
GTS if not tracking it has to be more fun, less weight and smaller tyres and cheaper.
It’s a tough choice as GT4’S look amazing imo and the GTS looks a bit st lol. But GTS 4.0 could be the next icon like the R.
Not test driven one yet , so be interesting.
That silver ones way too expensive, it’s very low spec.
Been looking at 2nd hand ones but most are 10mm sus not the sporty 20mm drop, so no good buys about bar the Mayfair car which sold pretty fast. I find it odd we have 6 or 7 GTS for sale !!!

It would be interesting to get a direct comparison for sure. I'm of the opinion it's more chassis than tyres, including the wider wheels the GT4 gets, that gives it its distinctive very high grip levels. I'm not sure the GTS would get as close, but who knows!Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
