Pulled the trigger on this yesterday, hope I don’t regret it, the 410 Exige is a proper experience, but the Spyder should be more civilised day to day, RPM are doing a “fast road” geo and fitting adjustable rear arms before I collect it.
Following the test drive I thought a set of 19” rims might improve the ride and handling, anybody gone down this route?

Very nice. Interested in your thoughts on how they compare once you have some miles under your belt as both are cars potentially on my radar in a few years.

I am not sure 19 inch wheels would make a huge difference apart from reduce overal grip levels, from memory of driving 981 I was surprised how good ride was on big wheels but to be fair that was an S on pasm.

It’s over list and none OPC for £69k for a car which was £66k list ish. It looks very poor value to me.

I would have bought this one and saved £5k.

Why would 19” reduce grip levels ?

What 19” would do if you kept the same profile tyre would lower the in gear speeds which would be a massive plus point.
But you would get a larger arch gap.

Swapping to 19” and swapping the tyre profile to keep the dia the same would NOT reduce grip levels.

All these cars I have seen are on P-zero oem anyway so 1st mod is a proper set of tyres and a remap on the detuned engine.
410bhp waiting to get out for £700 as it’s going to feel very slow after a 410bhp 1100kg Exige.

Previous cars have driven better on standard (smaller) wheels rather than the bling option (increased profile, so a bit more supple over poor roads), grip levels are obviously dependent on tyre fitment, this one is on PS4S, but was thinking 19” rims with cup 2 tyres would work well (have them on the Exige and they’re not as bad in the wet as people say).
Very interested in the tune, who offers it?

The type of reply we've come to expect from some people. rolleyes

OP I think that's a fine choice. Silver looks lovely with the gunmetal grey wheels.

Far better choice IMO than a dull grey with black rims that looks slammed. Plus that's older with more miles.

You can’t buy taste. biggrin

Enjoy.

But the one I bought is covered by Porsche warranty until 2022, is a year newer, done 3k fewer miles, doesn’t have chavvy black rims, is getting a full fast road geo and I didn’t pay the sticker price 😀

Looks like a nice car .
Out of the 2 I’d have gone the same way as you , Porsche warranty , leather dash , less miles and it’s a 2016 against a 2015. If you got a decent discount as well then even better.
Enjoy

please don't as you will miss out of some great advice :-)

3k miles less well if that is worth £5k then all good, but if you add £3k to yours that's cost you £5k ;-)

if you want quick and cheap tune evoms is about the best other wise you will be replacing manafolds for 435BHp but £8k, you might like that route.

while it won't help the dead spot in these (you need the manifolds etc)

this will get you a nice gain for cheap £££

http://www.evoms.com/product_p/tun981gt4evr425.htm

if you just want circa 400 bhp fit a COBB unit.

Well done OP, cracking looking motor with extended leather, Alcantara package with carbon inlays. Take no notice of R, he loves plastic.

I had assumed going down to 19inch would be a smaller wheel/tyre combo all round but I see 981 19 inch wheel/tyres are same width, I should have put 'might' reduce..

Can only talk from experience of going down 2 sizes and difference was very clear, grip down and chassis interaction up, didnt look as good though.

The one you bought is much better value than the Agate one Mr D pointed out.. Its 2016 vs 2015 with 3k less miles. GT Silver, Heated seats, BOSE, Carbon trim, Red stitching, Full leather and Cruise are all costly options no fitted to the Agate one. Would have been over £70K when new.
