An MOT to prove that it had done nothing ?

Surely modern oils shouldn't make this a problem .... ??

Agreed, shouldn't need much, depending on how well it has been stored over all this time. Probably wants a battery test, may well have been flat at some point, and for how long? Also tyres checking for age related deterioration. I'd probably get the brake fluid changed on the basis that there may have been some ingress of moisture, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Engine oil would be least of my worries unless it smells strongly of petrol (i.e. frequent cold starts without being warmed up after) - hasn't even been run in yet.

Could have been over £80k new, as it seems to have most desirable options aside from a cage and harnesses. According to the Bank of England inflation caculator, £80k in 2015 is about £107k now. I paid £85k for a used 981 GT4 in 2018 (also £107k now by the same calculator...) It is currently being sold (I think/hope/maybe even hope not!), and for a bit less than that one, but not enough less to have foregone 6 years of enjoying using it. As depreciation goes, it's amazing value for money. £4k a year for just about the best car I ever had? I mean, come on!

That one looks like an absolute bargain to me, and might be one that some wise person sorts away in that condition for another 10 years. I hope I've moved on emotionally now, but I used my GT4 RS for a normal work day last week, possibly last one of the year. I'm not sure it will ever pull on the heart strings like the 981 GT4 has for the last 6 years. The performance is possibly just a bit too polished in comparison, despite the joyful cacophony of a soundtrack to go with it.

Future icon? For those of us that couldn't hope to own a 911R, I think the 981 GT4 defined everything you could hope for in a sports car in the "20-teens". I fully expect to be looking for a good example in 10 years time, and being surprised that I can't afford one. (Still have proper Lotus Elan, or even Saab 96 to be the fallback postion if that happens...)

I couldn't agree more and if I had the garage space and offloaded another purchase I'd be reserving it over the phone. Value for money wise they are the best Porsche available to buy. It will even include an OPC major service in the price! I'm reading it as a one owner car - can't be many of them about now.

I'll bet this car cost close to £80k in 2015 ... what is that in 2024 money ??

Also in the launch colour ... but it will still depreciate if driven ...
By comparison to what else is on the market, you could put 5K miles on it before it even begins to make a notable dent in its value.

Can't be long before Porsche recognise the 91/81 era with Classic Status.

The starting point should be the PCGB recognising the GT4 as a separate register from the Cayman or 718 ... ??

MOTs are irrelevant on that car its not even that significant there has presumably been no servicing given the car hasn't really been used assuming it was typically delivered new with up to 15 miles recorded. Wonder if the engine has ever been brought up to proper temps (especially bearing in mind the glacial warming up period of the 981 GT4 C2S engine) or the car has just been shunted around over its lifetime.

Brake rotors should be fine as not steels so no corrosion it will need brake fluid change part of the major service anyway and 4 new tyres which are approaching 10 years old probably have flatspots on anyway. Aircon will need a service.

Agree you could use that car moderately and it wouldn't lose that much value. Be interesting knowing in exactly what conditions its been stored.

I would want an official warranty from Porsche on that car as part of the deal if buying it.....be interesting seeing whether the lack of history would impact this and there may well be ramifications for the well known gearbox issues.

Still as previously posted a bargain price for sure even though imo the equivalent 718 GT4 broadly offers better value for around £10k more. Having owned and run extensively both the 981 GT4 and 718GT4 (manual) from new I much prefer the 718.

Does anyone know this GT4 (GT04 GLO)?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202408052...

Spec looks "right" for me at least - lairy PTS colour, folding buckets, carbon interior trim, leather dash, cruise. Also a high enough mileage to not worry about using it/tracking it and with balance of warranty. Aftermarket higher wing supports by the look of it.

Any thoughts very much appreciated.

Thanks - interesting - so £55k including fees.

Seems like the one I've linked is a fair price given lack of warranty on the CC one and (for me at least) slightly better spec in terms of the bits that are hard to change - I'm not interested in ceramics (I may want to track the car and owners seem to take them off and replace with steel) and can take or leave Clubsport - also the CC car is plastic dash and silver interior trim.

I think both cars are 2016 so not sure the CC one is significantly newer (or am I missing something)?

ETA - The CC cars GT4 is now up for sale at a dealer for £59,995.

Did you check out their other one for sale with every single extended leather and alcantara option selected. Same price as the green one but a third less miles and all those options ticked.

Carmine looks far better in the flesh especially when the suns out.

Also, the paintwork works better against satin wheels.

Looks a good car for the cash

Worth watching ... I had a 981 and P wouldn't sell me a 718 GT4 ... his problem ? He loves it and also couldn't buy one at the time.

The video is not about a problem with the car per se…

The bit ‘Porsche got wrong’ is how they tried to manage the market and now the fallout is come home to roost.

Does anyone know if there is a list of UK supplied 981 GT4 PTS cars/colours?

I know it's not PTS, but also looking for numbers of Dark Blue Metallic, I know it was pulled early into production but know of 2 cars in Dark Blue Metallic so far.

I have one, I know of the below.

Personally..

Penfold's - folding buckets, steels, silver wheels, fairly base and currently in NZ somewhere
Mine - comforts, steels + lots of spec, silver wheels

Others..

- PCCBs, 918 seats, grey wheels
- Steels, 918 seats, black wheels
- Steels, 918 seats, grey wheels
- Steels, comfort seats, grey wheels

DBM is about as rare as PTS colours.

Thankyou for the reply.

Your car looks great!

I follow Penfold on Instagram so know of that car, also have seen the DBM car that CoffeeAndCars has on Instagram but unsure if they still own that one - (folding?) buckets

Ah yes, + 1 with steels and folding buckets. They sold it. That's it as far as I've seen.
