GT4 went back to OPC last week for another reset. They fully admitted they didn’t expect it to work and asked me to contact Vodafone to see if this latest attempt had worked. If not they would need the car again for 24hours for another hard reset - this time to allow Vodafone to force an over the air update to solve the issue.

Contacted Vodafone as requested. Tracker still not working. Very helpful Vodafone person confirmed a known issue with some Porsches. The physical tracker unit fitted to some Porsches were only ever designed to handle 4G. When Vodafone upgraded their system to 5G last year these units stopped working. Vodafone/Porsche have been working on a solution (the email some on here have received offering an over the air update) that should solve the issue once and for all. However, your tracker needs to be working to receive the update hence the need for a visit to your OPC for this to happen.

I’m awaiting a call from my OPC to get booked in.

My GT4 has been at the OPC for 2 weeks now. New tracker unit has been fitted but is still not communicating with the Vodafone network. The OPC is great but the whole thing seems a shambles from Porsche. Re the above post, with total respect to the poster, I have learned never to trust a proposed technology solution that includes the word "should". It either "does" or "doesn't". In this case the latter seems to be the case for my car!.

This thread is not filling me with confidence.

My car is currently having it's PDI ready for collection next week and the OPC have just had me setup the Vodafone account so they can do the tracker.

Fingers crossed.
Well mine has lasted a grand total of 22 days before failing. Spoken to Vodafone who seem to think there is a fault on the GSM antenna, it should have a strength of 11 but is only reporting 3, they've advised I contact my OPC to get it checked/hard reset.

Marvellous

I’ve had my car just 1 month. The 2nd journey out in the car and the tracker is bust.

Does anyone know if this hard reset and software patch resolve the situation?

Cheers

Mine also failed within the first month and had to go back for a reset / update.

It’s now been 11 days since I picked it up and it’s still working. OPC had it for 2 days to do the reset.

Thanks. Fingers crossed it doesn’t break again.

Mine also failed in the first few days of new car ownership - picked new car up early December last year. Vodafone sought permission to do an "over the air" fix (I avoided their calls and ignored their emails for weeks on the assumption that they wanted to sell me something... again). Finally gave them the go ahead to try to fix last week via email. I have absolutely no idea, and little interest in whether they managed.

Mine went back yet again on 17th for its 3rd hard reset. All working fine after. OPC said to expect over the air update email from Vodafone within a few days.

Email from Vodafone on 26th seeking permission for update. Second email saying update completed successfully yesterday.

It’s all working, so far.

Just picked up a very nearly new Boxster yesterday. OPC couldn't get the connected services/ tracker to communicate so will have to go back for the hard reset involving fuse removal and battery drain down (2 hours) mentioned in an earlier thread. They say issue is now resolved and this will work. Let's see

OPC has had wife’s Boxster for a day and a half. Supplied us with a Macan courtesy car today since they haven’t managed to fix it yet.

Mine took 29 days to fix. I immediately went for a drive without the tracker fobs just to see if Vodafone would call me. I've never been so happy to hear their voice.

The new/updated ‘My Porsche’ app will also tell you if your car is communicating with Vodafone. Unusually, several of the features on the previous ‘Car Connect’ app which ‘My Porsche’ is replacing seem to have been dropped.
Current Tyre Pressures
Horn
Flash lights
Trip info
Service info
All missing from the new app. confused

And then it broke again and needed another 7 days to fix...

My wife’s Macan is not the only Vodafone tracker that has failed in our household - The Vodafone tracker in my Vantage died - Replacement cost ? - £3k, if you can believe that…….

The Scorpion system in my Alpina seems much more reliable, so I had that fitted instead

This thread seems to have been quieter of late so hope this means the issue is now resolved, all be it with a hard reset required. Mine went in last week, battery drain down takes 24 hours plus another 12 for Vodafone to do something or other, but 2+ days later all seems to work.

Although as I don't need the tracker, I'm not sure what I get of much value out of this connectivity as I'm using Apple car play for my connectivity requirements

Since my car had the hard reset and software update from voda I’ve not experienced any issues. But with the Porsche connect app now no longer working I’m, not sure you know it’s working unless you don’t take the fob with you and they call you.

To ask if your car has been stolen.
