Amidst all the never ending talk of allocations, specs, depreciation etc etc, thought I’d post a couple of pictures from this mornings (wet) early morning run. Bottom line, let’s not forget that the 4RS is an awesome backroad machine…. wink

Thanks for the kind comments guys - photos taken at Skyfall Glen, Glencoe. Had 7 hours in my RS today and arrived feeling pretty good. FAL was also very handy for Hebridean ferry crossing!

Two more quick usability comments:

If your going to use it year round, I’d definitely think hard about swopping the rubber for PS4s (espec if your not a Trackday guy). Careful with your right foot in the wet - it does have 500BHP odd wink.

It is noisy inside, on light throttle the engines fine but there’s a lot of road noise. On full or high throttle, well, what can I say that’s not been said before….. a simple solution that works for me…

I find these quieten everything down significantly but still allow me to hear the stereo (albeit muted).

And lastly, I challenge anyone to get anything starting with a 3 mpg wise - unless you’re freewheeling down a massive hill! Best I’ve seen on a very slow journey was 26mpg.

I really like the spec of this car apart from the seats an leather steering wheel but the price isn't bad for such a high spec. Does anyone have any idea how much these seats devalue tan RS (if at all) and how difficult it will be to move on come resale https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/dealer/details...
Personally think the comfort seats on a 4RS are a difficult sell. It’s a road going track car after all - so the vast bulk of buyers will want buckets. If it was a Spyder RS it would be less of a worry, as that’s more a road biased car and heated seats in a convertible are always handy.
Guess it depends how long your planning keeping the car, if it’s a “forever” type thing and you fancy the comfy seats - go for it! If your planning selling it on fairly quickly I’d tread carefully

Yes guys, my car, absolutely love it, but overall an SRS makes more sense for me as it can potentially fill a similar role to both my GT4RS and my Lotus Exige 410. I also understand it’s a slightly better road car and I don’t track my cars at all.

Finmac - have you got a slot and what colour?
Yes will be 2025 car. I haven’t decided what colour yet - I have a preference towards bold colours on these type of cars. So, if I was brave enough I’d go Ruby but would have to be WP to calm it all down a bit! Maybe Shark again, without WP. Red is a consideration as is white both would need to also have WP to break the colours up a bit. Whatever colour, it will have silver wheels - either plain old silver or the aluminium ones.

Bit of a thread resurrection. I see the cheapest 4RS OPC car is now down to £121K (high miles, 3 owner) and as of yesterday unusually there were three Shark blue non WP cars for sale at the same time two second hand and one new one. I (wrongly) thought the 4RS market might have picked up a little now track day season is here, conversely the SRS market seems to be more buoyant now the sun has made an appearance.

Excellent value I’d say. Espec considering it’s basically the same drivetrain as the much more expensive 911 GT3 and RS big brothers .

First time I've checked AT in a good while prices seem to be the same as they were when I got mine in December maybe the odd bargain or there.

They will never be cheap enough for some people of course anyone waiting for them to be 100k is dreaming. Look how expensive a 991 GT3 still is.

I have the crap market to thank for mine anyway as I got mine with no buying history no sucking up to dealers or anything. I got offered 3 spec locked cars before Porsche caved and and have me a no strings allocation. Couple of mates have new GT3 RS with no buying history now too. You can just buy one if you want one.

Just buy them and drive them they certainly aren't investments any more and are unlikely to ever be again even the new 911s will never reach the crazy overs again. It's a bit sad that Porsche are still keeping a pretence of unavailability on the GT cars they have an opportunity here to rebuild relationships with actual proper customers.

Given the extremely bad situation they are in at the moment with nobody wanting their electric cars you would think they would be a bit more grateful for the customers that do actually want to buy their cars. We recently replaced a Macan with a Hyundai 5N as the Macan EV is such a poor offering. Having Hyundai as a direct competitor is not good!
Totally agree with your sentiment.
I was in an OPC recently and I enquired about the latest Gen 2 GT3 and the possibility of
a build slot- the salesman then replied that they had 500 names down wanting a GT3 build slot.
PLEASE- 500 folk wanting to spend circa £190k in the current economic climate??
I could only conclude he was talking absolute nonsense
I also find that number very hard to believe. I suspect I could get a GT3 allocation without too much grovelling (as could most people), there is however a massive BUT - the cars are just too dear now. Long since gone are the days of new GT3 at just over £100K - near double that now with some spec plus the near £6K to Rachel from accounts. Not for me I’m afraid….

Am I right to presume about 12 weeks / 3 months

Looking at the number sitting for sale on Autotrader I think you might be correct.
Why do we think this is folks? Is it because of the hard ride and the very loud (to some) noise of the 4 RS - or is it the state of the world economy?
Bit of both I suspect, plus they have built and sold quite a few hundred now and new ones are still coming through as well. As a former recent owner I’d say that as a track car it’s spectacular value, however as a “mostly road” car then I’d say the SRS ticks a lot more boxes. Absolutely no regrets of having made the switch!

Anyone have thoughts on this white GT4RS?
Looks nice spec - maybe it’s just my natural cautiousness, but, if I was spending this kind of money on a second hand car I’d be focusing on main dealer cars I suspect. (And yes I know there’s also some main dealer horror stories out there!). Caveat emptor and all that smile

Possibly what OPC would offer , so that is start point . .2 RS OPC offer would be around £120 k . Maybe trying to create interest , should just use Collecting cars

Agree 100k is possibly not far from a trade offer from an early WP car.
From recent experience I suspect this car would actually command a trade offer a fair bit higher than £100K.

Looks a nice one, maybe a little over priced compared to some but I like the look of it.

Nice looking car but at 2 year old who ever buys it would be the 4th owner!

The thing with the 4RS though is there s very little I d choose over one and another except price-even colours don t make that much difference.

Mag wheels and PCCBs may be nice but I can easily convince myself I don t need them due to the expense of damaging them.

A white with yellow brakes and stitching may be ideal but I wouldn t spend an extra £15k to get it!
That's fine for you, obviously, but not for me - I wanted PCCB/Lift/Bose, so the pool of cars was relatively small, and any spec above those was a bonus.
(Ended up with PTS and a lot of superfluous options for a decent price).
PCCB and lift I understand - 4RS is no noisy that the Bose thing always puzzles me - dunno if you can actually hear much difference given the cabin racket anyway! (Not being critical just an observation as an ex 4RS owner wink).
