Maybe they now realise that it's a buyers market. Mugs.
You appear to have taken it personally. It’s a game.
Is this a game for the OPC or the buyer? And who’s the real mug—the OPC or the customer?

This is the way I see it.

A man walks into a car showroom and says to the salesman, ‘I’d like to order a new GT4 RS. I’m not going to haggle for a discount, it’s the car I’ve worked my butt off to afford, I just want it, and I’m ready to pay full retail price.’

The salesman replies, ‘Sorry, sir, you’re not worthy enough for me to sell you that car, unless you also buy another, massively overpriced car that you don’t even want.’

Or even worse, he says, ‘Sorry, sir, you’re not a good enough customer for my dealership to even consider selling you that car.’

The man walks out, thinking, ‘What a disappointing company to try and buy something from, especially when they openly advertised it for sale on the Porsche UK website.’

He then keeps an eye on the Porsche UK website and notices that the same dealership has a brand-new, unregistered GT4 RS in stock for sale!

So, who’s the real mug?

The man who worked his butt off to buy a brand-new GT4 RS, built to his own spec, at full retail price? Or the dealership that now has an unallocated GT4 RS sitting in stock, costing them money taking up showroom space, and one they’ll most likely have to sell at a discount?

I’d say GRD description of Mug is fair.

It’s an open market. We’re to blame as customers for creating it.

Porsche and their opc created the artificial price control of these GT cars, due to restricting supply and by having full control who gets the next new car allocation.

I would imagine a lot of genuine buyers are feeling fed up with the games played by Porsche and their dealerships.

Nope, ultimately we’re responsible.

It’s quite possibly a car that the original buyer has now decided not to proceed with? I appreciate that some games are played but you cannot be definitive without knowing the background. The market has moved in the last 12 months and both dealer and customer behaviour reflects this.

Customers hold the ultimate power. A bit of self reflection on our behaviour in all this goes a long way.
People sucking up to dealers. Buying cake for dealers etc. Trying to please dealers. We as customers created the situation and we as customers are moaning about it now wink

There are currently eight brand-new, unallocated GT4 RS cars for sale in the UK Porsche network and possibly even more behind the scenes. I’d be shocked if all eight were simply cancelled orders.

I agree that the market seems to be showing early signs of change. I guess it’ll take time to see the full effect on both new unallocated cars and used car prices and availability.

Porsche has definitely helped the used car market by aggressively increasing new car prices over the last few years. But if new cars don’t sell at these higher retail prices, they’ll have no choice but to start discounting ultimately pushing used prices down.

Let’s see if customers hold the ultimate power when the average Joe try’s to get a 992.2 gt3 allocation.

If the average Joe starts getting allocations the market has fully turned to the customers advantage.

I’d say GRD description of Mug is fair.
A loose aquantice with a few GT products and a decent previous purchase history enquired about a used yellow GT3RS last week offering up his GT4RS Spyder Weissach with 47 miles as a px, that he originally bought to get his hands on a GT3RS.

They offered £115k for it.

It was a short conversation.

eek that’s a very low trade offer for a brand new GT4RS Spyder Weissach with only 47 miles!

I assume he will be keeping the spyder or having a go at selling it privately?

Imagine making an after to a opc at £120k for a GT4RS Spyder Weissach with only 47 miles, I’m sure they would tell you Foxtrot Oscar.

The OPCs are still living off the fat from previous year’s hot cash register. Won’t be long before buyers will be cupping their balls and gently squeezing.

I agree completely that in a technical sense the customer is always right. As a retailer if you want their business you have to "look after them" ... or they will go elsewhere.

You are one customer, as am I. You have one voice in this, as have I and I'm confident that our circumstances will be different.

I sincerely hope that all those who feel to have been shoddily treated by their OPC will have their satisfaction ... at what cost, who knows.

I am also confident that the few who received serial preference will be looking at their P+L account with Porsche since most of the gains for the historically distorted market resided with their OPC's.

Since we all count as one, as the market returns to normality we will see what price OPC's will pay for this distortion (corruption) of the market ... even if at the time it appeared to be "good for business".

Clearly you are right for you ... I'm very happy to leave it at that and let time tell .... wink
