Hi All

I’m awaiting locking spec on mine for a September delivery

Question for those who have had a factory order.
What was the gap between locking spec to delivery

Am I right to presume about 12 weeks / 3 months

J
Yes and maybe dare I see it even slightly quicker these days

Just heard of someone else getting a specable order on with no buying history. It's all good I think.

First time I've checked AT in a good while prices seem to be the same as they were when I got mine in December maybe the odd bargain or there.

They will never be cheap enough for some people of course anyone waiting for them to be 100k is dreaming. Look how expensive a 991 GT3 still is.

I have the crap market to thank for mine anyway as I got mine with no buying history no sucking up to dealers or anything. I got offered 3 spec locked cars before Porsche caved and and have me a no strings allocation. Couple of mates have new GT3 RS with no buying history now too. You can just buy one if you want one.

Just buy them and drive them they certainly aren't investments any more and are unlikely to ever be again even the new 911s will never reach the crazy overs again. It's a bit sad that Porsche are still keeping a pretence of unavailability on the GT cars they have an opportunity here to rebuild relationships with actual proper customers.

Given the extremely bad situation they are in at the moment with nobody wanting their electric cars you would think they would be a bit more grateful for the customers that do actually want to buy their cars. We recently replaced a Macan with a Hyundai 5N as the Macan EV is such a poor offering. Having Hyundai as a direct competitor is not good!
Totally agree with your sentiment.
I was in an OPC recently and I enquired about the latest Gen 2 GT3 and the possibility of
a build slot- the salesman then replied that they had 500 names down wanting a GT3 build slot.
PLEASE- 500 folk wanting to spend circa £190k in the current economic climate??
I could only conclude he was talking absolute nonsense
One dealer with 500 names down for a 992.2 gt3 allocation….if that’s doesn’t sum up the games which have and are still being played I don’t no what does!
I think some dealers do have a very limited number. I enquired to buy a new gts (for family member) and a new GT3 together, also having had a taycan from the OPC. They did not entertain it, as well as another (surrey/kent..) in the end I bought a .1 from Romans and will trade that in a few yrs for the 992.2

My 991.1 gt3 is about to go and I’m considering what to buy next.

Previously assumed I would go for another gt3, but I’m thinking about a Spyder RS and so have scanned most of this thread which has been very helpful.

Strikes me if you want a GT engine with the roof off then it’s this or a speedster. Speedster isn’t a car I would use on track, partly down to the value and difficultly to insure for track days.

Where do we think we are now on where to buy and what to pay?

Noticed a few build slots being offered around on the WhatsApp groups. Is that the best route or try to find a good deal used?

I’m looking at spyder rs vs 991.2 gt3 vs various used mclarens at the moment.

Certainly better value in used SRS - less so in pre specced or new order especially given the increased first year RFL. You have to balance that against a specification you can live with of course.
Allocations have been available from sensible OPCs without strings - mine is currently at the docks, not sure how long they will continue to build them given Porsche has said that Oznabruck is due to close at the end of Q3. Unlikely it will make financial sense to move production again I’d have thought.

Would take a McLaren spider over any pork convertible due to the lighter weight, stiffer shell and better driving dynamics.

You’ll find there is little difference in weight. Anyway what did you think when you drove the Spyder RS?

50kg is a fair amount.
Spyder is fun but spiders more responsive.
Also spyder has terrible roof mechanism in comparison.

Wow, less than 4% tolerance. You must have race car level driving skills! Each to their own but good luck with the McLaren! 😨

Thank you

Am I wrong in seeing that used values don’t seem to be much below list though?

On autotrader currently cheapest new is asking £135k vs £127k used (with 5k mileage)

Would seem to make more sense to offer below asking on a few new / un reg cars?

I've heard of someone getting a pretty decent discount on one. I have no reason to think he was fibbing. 8 Grand off a full fat with recruiting on it including mags.

I guess it will depend on supply v demand at each dealer; when I got the allocation for mine at the end of December it was the only one the dealer had received at that point for 2025 - and they had to ask for that based on my order. Clearly some dealers prefer the gamble of selling a prespecced car to the old fashioned way of finding a customer at the allocation stage.
Really the wrong time of year to get the best price but nothing ventured nothing gained.
Mines a long term purchase and I wanted it to be to my specification given it’s likely the last new car I’ll buy - there’s a lot of almost new cars for sale but to my mind mostly a mix of dull/ horrific colours (e.g the 2 ruby star cars that have been for sale for ages)or odd specifications.

I have not driven a SpyderRS however I’ve had numerous GT3RS in the past - my current GT4RS is without doubt a more visceral and exciting car to drive

Some might have thought your framing of “pork convertible” a tad disingenuous. I certainly did.

I drove Mr Donutskidmark's 4RS and sold my 991.1 very promptly. Like you I was considering going to a 991.2 but when i started looking I felt they were overpriced for a 6 year old car compared to the 4RS.

I got a 4RS at the end of September and although still running in I'm very pleased with it. Its a very different car but what surprised me was that its better built, (granted I had heard this about 991.2 as well), the brakes are much better and the fixed buckets are more comfortable than the folding buckets I had on the 991.1

Obviously a Cayman and not a Spyder but I'm pleased with the move. Good luck in selecting your next steer!

Interesting ... but I have the impression that there are far fewer people looking these days ... so worth a post !!
