I've got a 2007 987 base, recently upgraded the brakes and have been suffering what seems to be known as ice mode, where the ABS activates too early but doesn't actually do much, pedal goes hard and vibrates but it's not retarding any speed, come off the brakes and back on and it stops fine. This also happens on lose surfaces with minimal brake pressure causing it.

My brakes consist of larger 8 pot calipers up front and rear 4 pots with larger pistons so I'm moving more fluid. I added in a GT3 master cylinder at the same time also.

I did try changing the coding on my ABS pump with PIWIS but it couldn't write it successfully. Has anyone ever done this successfully?

I've seen some suggestions that this could be due to the brake servo now not being sized correctly. Has anyone run into this issue and was it servo the cause?

I've seen this list on another forum with the various versions, does anyone know if these are all straight bolt on upgrades? I guess I'd go for the last one, the 997 GT version.

98735592300 is the standard 987 booster for all cars with steel brakes. This includes Cayman R and Boxster Spyder.

99635592300 is the 987 booster for all PCCB cars. This part was also used on all 996 Carrera and Turbo models.

99635592390 is the 996 GT booster. This was used on 996 GT2 and GT3 models from the factory.

99735592300 was used on 997 Carrera 2, C2S, Speedster, and Sport Classic models (both PCCB and steel rotors).

99735592320 is the booster used on 997 Carrera 4, Targa4, and GTS models without PCCB.

99735592537 is another 997 booster number. This unit was used on C4, Targa4, and GTS models with PCCB, as well as C4S, Targa4S, and 997 Turbo regardless of braking package.

99735592390 is the 997 GT booster. This was used on all 997 GT3, including the RS 4.0, as well as all 997 GT2, including the RS.

I'll answer my own question in case someone else finds it on a google search. A GT brake servo has fixed my issue. The part number I bought was 997.355.923.91

Little video on the topic.
