So have you actually bought it then? Show us the advert…..
Are you doubting me?! Will post pics of the car when it arrives in second week of November.
No not at all. Just would like to see what you bought. Must be mega exciting.

Cayman GTS ordered August 2021, I took delivery last week, so 14 months wait!
The salesman told me when I collected the car, the current wait time is 2 years.

Madness. You must all have other lovely motors to keep you going I guess…?
981 CGTS just bought as the interim and it’s lovely. But I I have had two BGTS 4.0 cancelled orders offered in the two weeks since I collected it. Quite tempted as they have the LED light option that has now disappeared but the colour combo didn’t work for me as my long term keeper.

Anyone else had cancelled orders offered to them?

There was a gentian Boxster 4.0 gts on the Porsche site for the last couple of weeks for delivery in November. Blue leather interior and blue hood not a usual spec but I was surprised it was there so long.

Interest on pcp of about 10% is bound to make a difference and cause some cancellations.

Are they really charging 10% on PCP now!! Madness talk about profiteering. Having a laugh.

It’s going up to 12% in December.

Surely, those who were even flirting with the top end of their budget to get into these things are going to be dead in the water at 12% PCP.

12% will be more than double the rate compared to the time of order. I big shock!

It's also possible that the balloon payment will be lower, reflecting a weaker used market.
That will push up monthly payments in addition to the interest rate rises.

It would be interesting to know what proportion of Porsches are financed...it could have a big impact on demand.

The ballon payments are lower so it’s getting quite expensive I locked in at 8.8% but it’s becoming a very expensive car.

Saying that I could have not had so many options…..

I have no data, but I suspect most are tbh. It's just the way most people operate. Looking at the Approved used site for a 2021 £100k GT4, you're looking at £1.7k/month for 3 years before you've fuelled, insured or taxed it. £58k balloon lol... as if they're going to be anywhere near £58k in 3 years time.

Edit: Just realised this is the GTS thread, not the GT4 one redface

It’s the uncertainty about future values and long wait times, and interest rates, are the reason I cancelled my order and bought a lovely 981 Boxster GTS. 2015 car with 18k on the clock.

Instead of a car that was going to cost at least 80k on delivery, which would have been 25k deposit and the rest financed at an ever increasing rate, I put down 20k and took a personal loan at 3.2% for the 25k balance.

And after 4 years the car is mine, and no balloon.

Ok it’s not new and not a 4.0 with the latest toys. But it’s probably the better option for me as I would struggle to justify the almost double cost of a new car. I wonder how much buyer regret I would have on a car that costs twice as much….?

Very nice. That car has no peer at that price. Until the £80k 718 GTS softens by at least £15k, the 981 GTS will remain an absolute bargain.

Just looking at the interest paid, a doubling of finance costs is equivalent to a ~£10K price increase for a £100K car.
That £100K car is really £123K car.

I think that anyone who works out the cost of the finance on that at £20k+ is at least going to think twice.

It makes a massive difference to the cost and is simply dead money that buys nothing more than what would have cost half as much in terms of interest only a few months ago and which we had got used to for years.

I can see lots of orders being cancelled. With all the other costs of life rising and with the car costing substantially more for those financing i suspect many won’t be able to justify it.

The question then is what will happen to the waiting time.. I ordered in march with projected delivery not before q1 2024 and I don’t really want it before then but I’ll be reluctant to turn down a slot if offered before as it’s a keeper and my last new car. I have zero interest in or desire to buy electric or hybrids.

Just had a look now and the APR on a 718 is 10.9%. That's almost 4% more than I signed for back in March and 5% more than back in July '20 for my first Porsche!!

You just hit the nail on it head…spot on.

My opc has always said they sell very few cars which are not financed and the majority are PCP.

Amazing that so few buyers of expensive cars use finance and also that they use the most expensive form of finance.

High interest rates must hurt their sales.

BGTS order form signed and deposit placed 16/11/22
Delivery expected 04/24 but I am quite happy for it to be a bit later as I would like to get as close to the end of production as possible even early 2025, which would tie in nicely with a significant birthday woohoo
I have a beautifully specced 981S and Macan GTS to run around in anyway.
I am in the fortunate position of not having to finance so interest rate or PCP rates are not of a concern.

When I was reading through all the order papers, and cancellation clauses, I noted that they reserve the right to charge an amount for the Silverstone PDE if cancellation takes place after you have attended.
Given that this is the first chance you can get a real drive in one as they have no demonstration models, it seems a bit harsh!
Has anyone cancelled after the PDE and if so were you charged for the event?

Interesting you mention this - I did the Porsche experience recently in a pdk GT4 as I have one on order- the thought did occur to me what happens if I think the car is crap and I cancel the order.. .., luckily I thought it was ok!
I only went ‘cause it was free but actually it was very informative and the instructor was great.
