Is the 987 Spyder worth the money…
Discussion
I think I posted this before, but my memory is shot these days so just in case I haven't - a friend of mine is a Speedster specialist, he actually recently sold a 993 Speedsster he built, so I think there is only one left now in the UK, but he's not limited to 993s. He was the genius behind the Ninemeiter builds until him and Colin parted ways
Marc Clowes at MLR in Stoke on Trent, I've got no interest or share of his business but I've known him since primary school and he's a genuine genius with anything Porsche, he's built two of mine and I've currently got a 996 RS being built.
If you have a speedster issue or idea then he's the man to talk to.

Anyone on here advertised a car on PH lately??
I ve had 5 enquiries in the first hour .but two of them have suggested I get a report from elitecarfax posting a link etc.
Smells, walks and quacks like a scam - getting sellers to pay £20 or whatever for a car check report.
Was very weird from two separate people.
Same, it s a scam, Pistonheads should have sent you an email about what to look out for, this is the number one, it s set up to steal your credit card details not the cost of a bogus report.I ve had 5 enquiries in the first hour .but two of them have suggested I get a report from elitecarfax posting a link etc.

But they've also started to be a bit more subtle now and ask relevant questions and some of them are actually too bad at all, but you can tell quite quickly if you don't want to waste time.
It's all aimed at gathering your information but if you add in a few obvious howlers like "I had the qwark wheels trimmed so they should be good until the next service" - and you don't get a strange response then you're talking to a scammer.
Just edited and reactivated the advert for my 987 Spyder....

...so I look forward to 5-10 scam emails in the next hour!!

There is a lovely low mileage Aqua blue one at Ashgood currently listed.
I bet it won’t hang around long.
Used to belong to Keith Flint from the Prodigy I believe.I bet it won’t hang around long.

Pretty sure that Keith Flint's car was different? No Decals and Black Wheels? Plus he signed the boot/frunk? Would be worth a bit more than the Ashgood car if it was his old one. Still, that's a very rare and very tidy car, low mileage 987 Spyders are very hard to find these days, especially ones not white or black.
Oh that's good knowledge I didn't know I thought it was his.Edited by kalexan273 on Friday 15th August 11:38

Thats a great colour.
I don't think I've ever seen one that isn't white or black in the flesh.
Agree mate but does it command the asking price for the colour ?I don't think I've ever seen one that isn't white or black in the flesh.
Mileage and seats seem to be the factor determining 'value'.
Seats are the most interesting...they look great but I don't think materially add to the driving experience (depending on driver I suppose).
I think I get more noticeable driving value from the PCCBs than I would from the carbon buckets.

Only regret was not going all in with PTS Speed yellow with yellow belts and door pulls. But I was annoyed you could get it on other models at the time but would have to pay for it on the Spyder. It would have been just one of three made in SY if I had done.
I do like seeing them in red and the blue also.
Met the chap with the Keith Flint car, he is/was on pistonheads. I think the car has been pictured on past Spyder discussions.
Someone up my end ordered speed yellow, when I was “on the list” (remember those days when your Porsche garage said “you’ll like this so go down to the experience centre and try them all”) I could get either a paint to sample slot or a factory collection. I think the factory collection was only during spring to autumn and PTS was immediately after that. I was looking at gulf blue!
It all went a bit tits up following the financial crash which history tells us was 2008 but things were only starting to bite where I lived really a couple of years later.
I the end looking back the financial crash was really good for some of us but a bit like covid, there were times where you felt it could all come crashing down.
The Spyder was by almost 50% more than I’d ever spent on a car at that point so I bottled it.
Can anyone remember when those silverstone days happened, 2009?
