Where can I find a gearbox?

Any thoughts on where I can source a 915 gearbox. The car is a 1968 Targa 2.0 that is being rebuilt. The original engine and gearbox were stolen and sold to an individual in Portugal. The restorer has sourced a later 2.4 MFI engine but we need a 915 gearbox to go with it.

I have looked on Ebay and Race Cars Direct.

Any further guidance would be welcome. Thank you.

I’d also try any of the UK specialists for that age of car…I’d be amazed if one of them didn’t have or didn’t know where a 915 box is. Plenty of European specialists too you could try.

I guess you'd have to assume it'd require a rebuild.

Another thought is whether a G50 gearbox could be fitted? You'd need to ask an expert, but it'd open up many more possibilities for you.

Russel Lewis would probably know how easily a g50 could fit and maybe the location of a 915, he is hard to track down though sometimes.

I guess companies like Douglass valley or Porsch apart would be pricey.

The torque tube assembly has to be altered to fit the larger G50 gearbox. It is quite a lot of work
