Has anyone had this fitted or fitted one themselves?
I was interested in the quality and ease of use with the wi-fi connection etc.

Have been considering buying one of these as I have just swapped my 2017 Cayenne GTS for a 22 version.

It's expensive compared to the Dashcams available off the shelf (web) and looks a tad bulky to me. I have seen the unit advertised for around £300-350 and fitting appears to be very straight forward having looked at the instructions I managed to find on the web. Connects using spare fuses and the instructions advise which row and slot to use. Wiring is ran across the screen under the headlining and down the pillar which I have done before for aftermarket cams. Porsche centres are asking another £4-500 for this when it's actually 30 mins work if you can handle the work.

I never had any queries when extending the warranty on the last Cayenne, but there is always the risk I guess.
Why do they not have a power source fitted for these on new cars in the roof console area, when insurance companies will look favourably on them, is beyond me! Profit I guess!

Grateful of any experience with this

We have one fitted to our cayenne. Fitted by the dealer. It’s paid for itself already as it simplified an insurance claim where a guy drove into the front wing and we could prove we were in our lane and the other car swerved into ours.

Google search Mobius Dashcam.

Basic but very high quality, ultra reliable, computer set-up, power from power bank, simple front and rear installation.

I've use these camera's in my Cayman they are years old, I leave the mounting point in the car and just swap them from car to car.

Thanks sound like it was very worthwhile!
Do you happen to have any pictures showing the install from inside the car. I can see they are a fair size and wondered what they looked like fitted and where the wire goes etc.
Many thanks

Have a look here:-

Porsche Dashcam
The Porsche dash cam is ideal for making video recordings of driving situations and while parking. The camera is operated with the associated app, in which all settings can be made. Recorded videos are stored on the supplied SD card and previous recordings are overwritten. If the dash cam detects a shake/vibration or if the radar sensor is triggered, the recorded video is stored separately and not overwritten. Recordings can be downloaded directly from the SD card or via the app.
Details:
• Recording of videos in QHD
• Audio recording (can be deactivated)
• GPS sensor
• Radar sensor for video recording when an object is approaching the vehicle
• Vibration sensor
• Lens with polarisation filter to reduce reflections and improve colours and contrasts
• Bracket for the windscreen for fixed mounting on the vehicle
"Driving" operating mode:
The Porsche dash cam is ready for use when the engine is started. If a shock occurs, the 10 seconds before the event and the time after the event are stored. The vibration sensor for driving shots on the race track can be deactivated by selecting the "Continuous" setting in the app.

My local OPC said I’d be better off fitting a different brand than the ‘Porsche’ one as it will be half the price & have better features!!!

I think the Porsche dashcam does now include both a front and rear camera with a parking mode. Being OEM it also avoids any potential warranty issues down the line if you subsequently have any electrical problems. And it means that you aren’t requiring third parties to remove trim etc and hack into the electrical systems to access the 12v battery which could be important for an EV in particular.

It’s certainly expensive, but I’m tempted to go down this route for my Taycan, just for the simplicity. However, more sensible people may choose the cheaper, better option and not worry about potential issues down the line.

Correct, Porsche f/r cameras now sold as a pair.

Not sure if plugging into the cars 12v power point with a 1/3 party camera could cause an issue?

Would never hack into the electrical system!

I’m talking about directly connecting to the electrical system, rather than simply plugging into the cigarette lighter or similar.
