Third time lucky (first two SRS I had a deposit on didn't work out), but I finally picked one up last week from OPC Silverstone.
Feeling a big bout of imposter syndrome now.
Vanadium, Weissach, red interior/trim, neodyme wheels, PCCB, LWB, '24, 360 miles, full PPF.
Almost went comforts due to back issues and ability to take the toddler out one day, but selfishly opted for the full-on experience, felt I'd just regret it otherwise, loved the experience of LWB and all the 'testing' I did indicated I'd be 'okay' with them (not being able to experience a cross-euro drive aside). Almost went for a different car, but the centre-lock recall put paid to that.
'Gold' wheels also not my first choice but they're really growing on me (I thought I'd have already booked to get them re-painted, but will definitely be holding off now).
Previous 986, 987 and 981 owner so have been wanting to tick the last box, while life has continued to fly by - ten years on from the 981 GTS, marriage, houses, two shoulder ops, crippling slipped disc (thankfully much improved), loss of my Porsche-mad brother (big YOLO push right there), and a life-changing two year old later I finally have a chance to own another. Have had a huge crush on the RS since launch, zero chance of allocation. Started looking at Emira's and GT4 (non RS) in June. Liked the Emira, but loved the GT4 (manual). Made the mistake of scratching the YOLO-RS itch with a 4RS test drive... have been totally sold since. Flip-flopped between 4RS and SRS for a while. Preference was always SRS, but earlier in the summer SRS were not priced so attractively, especially compared to 4RS! When the overs game mostly stopped I looked more seriously. Would have preferred an allocation to my spec, but that didn't work out (I was offered a couple of 4RS allocations in the end, but by that time I'd settled on SRS). I could (should) also have waited a little longer perhaps, but impatience got the better of me.
Some experiences when looking:
I ended up knowing I had to see the car in person, a few bad experiences feeling I could buy one remotely (since they're all hardly used), but seeing a few up close had me abandon that idea. I was always told car is 'as new' but have been really disappointed in the condition of some of the cars I've seen with around 1k miles so buying without seeing became a no-no, a shame since I missed out on some crackers that were just too far away to go see.
Watching some OPC folks try to assemble the roof made me cringe - wrong order of operations, poor folding, dangling cables, one roof even had a gash in it where clearly the parts of the rear boot-lid under the air intakes had fouled a poorly folded roof - watch out for that bit if you're looking!
I wanted full PPF, or I'd add it to a car that didn't have it. Many had it, but the condition varied enormously. It's clear some have been jet-washed (or just installed) poorly, and I've seen lots of peeling PPF and air bubbles, enough to put me off some cars.
I found doing a deal difficult, I had to wait for the market/prices to get to where I wanted. Same went for 4RS, cars I was making silly, scoffed at offers on earlier in the summer ultimately ended up shifting for less, that's just the market I guess.
Three hour drive back from Silverstone, mostly m-way and stuck in Friday traffic, but I felt fine at the end of it, and enjoyed the wrapped, intimate feeling of the LWBs. I measured our tiny garage so many times, but was so relieved that I could get the car in relatively easily and still get in and out without issue (just).
Won't be seeing much use until the warmer weather, like I said I could have waited but wanted to secure one I liked before allocation ends or the choice dries up for winter. Would love to go back touring the Alps with it, but two-year old might have something to say about that!

Kids seats fit fine into the buckets if you are careful with your choice. Here is my 3 year old Grandson fast asleep in my 4RS. God knows how given all the din in there

FYI the front airbags are designed for adults in terms of height and specifically weight. When you specify the ISOFiX bracket in a front seat there’s a switch to turn the air bag off because of this. I think the issue is that because the airbags are designed to take an adults weight at impact they would potentially injure a child. You can get the airbag switch retrofitted but an OPC might not do it with cars fitted with bucket seats

Awesome, glad you found one that fits the bill. Bet you're hoping for a mild winter to get some use out of it. What tyres did it come with?
M-cup 2's.I need to get the front number plate plinth installed, and weather next week looks ghastly so might even have to put that short trip off for a while!

Congrats on the purchase, I am also a fan of the wheel colour.
if you haven't already join the CSC Whatsapp group its a wealth of knowledge on Spyders .
Thanks Jeff. Funnily, I bumped into Craig at Ashgood a couple of months ago - what a lovely guy. I was there to check out a GT4 and he was looking at a 987 Spyder. He was really happy to chat and gave me a ton of useful info from his experience of 4RS and SRS as well as being able to compare them to regular GT4 and Spyder. Was invaluable talking to someone who had good experience of all those cars, especially when it was hard to get a drive in an RS. So yes, I'll be signing up real soon!if you haven't already join the CSC Whatsapp group its a wealth of knowledge on Spyders .

Question for the owners of the Spyder RS. Can you confirm it doesn’t have ISA, or lane assist or no other stupid assists that are on cars these days other than traction control and ABS? Even ones sold after July 2024?
No you are safe my car was a Sep 24 build and has none of the above.Question Pls.... Thinking of taking my SRS on some long trips soon has anyone adjusted the back rest angle of the bucket seats? Does it make much of more relaxing drive on the longer trips?

I've got those on my 981 Spyder and yes it made all the difference to me. I'm 5'11" 90kg, so the cabin is not restrictive in any way, but whilst I loved the LWBs from the get-go, my 52yr old frame didn't align with Porsche's perfect posture set up. I think the 15 degree riser has made it just about spot on.Question Pls.... Thinking of taking my SRS on some long trips soon has anyone adjusted the back rest angle of the bucket seats? I'm not so reclined that I could take a nap, but I'm not so upright that I feel tortured either. A simple and inexpensive addition, easily reversible too.

Thanks, I am 6ft and 90kgs so about the same. Just to be clear i am looking to recline the back rest not a " Riser" to raise the seat. Do you by any chance know who makes the part no etc. PlsI'm not so reclined that I could take a nap, but I'm not so upright that I feel tortured either.
