Worth noting also that the oil change volume on the 2021+ GT3/4RS/SRS (4 to 5 litres) is only ~50% of the total oil capacity, so an oil "change" is more of an oil dilution - another reason to go shorter on the intervals.

Is anybody doing intermediate oil changes on SRS or 4RS? I spend a bit of time watching Streten on M539 restorations on YT and can t help but think more oil changes are no bad thing, for proper engine care. Particularly if the car has been SORN for the winter.

Edited to add, no track work, just fast road with full use of the rev range (when warm, obvs), and about 3k miles/yr.

Thoughts?

I had the oil changed at 12m and about 2800 miles in my SRS. The car is a keeper so I want to look after it. Porsche tax meant about £500 at an OPC.

Interesting, I’ve just had a quote from Parr for even more than that. As the car is a keeper and the parts total around £120 for the oil change, I might invest in some quick jacks and do the interims myself.

Yep, have decided this is the way to go.

At the prices being quoted even by independents, this way will
pay for itself relatively quickly, plus at least I know I’ll do it properly.

Has anyone changed from a manual 718 Spyder to the RS? Prices are softening here in Switzerland, but it's still a big cost to change. My OPC has two in stock at the moment, so think I'm going to have a nosy when I completely superfluously go in to book my service. 15k price difference, which seems to be driven by a 30k PTS option, which annoyingly looks amazing in amethyst metallic with gold wheels.

Thoughts on whether it was worth the change?

Interested to hear more on thoughts too .

Have been watching SRS vids this weekend and aside from the mentioned roof 'faff' I love them.

Also, have read some reports on roof warning lights ( could be user error of course) & most getting annual oil changes at £500 from OPC's as opposed to the usual 2yr schedule.

Can't comment on the difference between the manual 718 Spyder and SRS as I jumped straight into the SRS but I've got to admit that that colour combo is perfect imho wink

I have used the lift quite a lot tbh, especially when using ferries and under-ground car parks!

Went to take a look at them yesterday. Both were in a warehouse, so difficult to get a good look at the colours. The vandium grey was slightly favoured by my OH and she wasn’t keen on the yellow accents on the amethyst.

We’ve arranged for them both to be out in the open next Saturday when the weather won’t be miserable and a test drive of the grey one, as the other is ok SOR.

Have to say from the outside the start up and tick over didn’t particularly excite me compared to mine. Hopefully that’ll be quite different from the drivers seat and through the rev range. That’s one of the few things I think mine is lacking and a reason to change (I don’t want to go down the aftermarket exhaust route)

I have a 718 Spyder and previously owned a 992 GT3. Was offered an SRS allocation. Drove one. It was fantastic. The engine, layout, size - and the faster shifts and faster rack (maybe?) vs the 718 - made it the best of the three cars to drive for me and my planned road use

But I was deaf in my right ear for over an hour after a ten minute drive, and the hood was awful. I can take the 718 hood down solo in about 40 seconds. Think the SRS one is 2 mins minimum and it was a right faff. Every catch required a knack. So I reluctantly passed

However experiences vary and I know many others have upgraded and been very happy

Thanks for that insight. My OH is commenting on „why can‘t Porsche just make normal roofs“. Pointless trying to explain that one. Like the Spyder it would be a dry weather car and going to roof off to roof on and vice versa won‘t be a frequent change, so I‘m not too concerned about that.

Regarding the noise, I was just watching an Australian YouTube review that was complaining the noise was too loud with the roof up. So i guess the test drive is going to have to involve both states.

It’s a raucous noisy sports car, a rare thing in this day and age, I really can’t understand people who complain about it being too loud…

I have tinnitus and the only time I have had issues with the induction noise was on track where it is at full tilt all the time, on the road and i tend to use my car fairly hard, It is not an issue and less so with the lid down, I do believe JCR are on with a solution to reduce the induction noise for the less hard core owner and if it is an issue or there are plenty of Taycans available if you looking for a more quiet sedate type of drive.

and the roof is not an issue, I rarely have mine on and if I ever need to I can fit the top section to make it watertight quicker than I could on my previous Spyder.

Been to look at an SRS today.

Really fancy one but then i do wonder why there are so many hardly used cars for sale?

Kinda stops me from pulling the trigger

There is a rubystone WP car at Solihull with read stitching and red seat inserts.

Each to their own, but someone at the dealership should have ask " Are you really sure you want read seats and stitching?, because it's gonna look a bit crap"

Production seemed to end with a flurry of new SRS l, a fair few remaining new and unregistered presently. I suspect these will disappear come spring and better weather. A lot of RS products are hardly used by owners - bizarrely in my opinion, hence the low miles on many. In summary, I would not be surprised if history shows that winter 2025/6 was actually an excellent time to buy one - either new with a decent discount or as you say lightly used.
