Fantastic colour, great to see the Schroth belts are still the same pattern as my 2 spare sets, I'm having one fitted in my next car passenger seat. One spare unused box, never opened, if it is of any use to anyone?
Harnesses do have a life so it may be worth checking on some older well used cars ...
I had the original unfitted harnesses with my GT3RS and for this reason preferred to fit a pair of new harnesses when I bought the car a year ago ... probably an excess of caution but it seemed silly to fit an old set !

A point of note particularly for those with STOP notices for the wheel centre nuts ... in searching for GT4RS numbers I have read of a few cars suffering oil leaks from damaged sump gaskets.
It appears that this has been an issue on some GT cars since 2022 but the gasket replacement is a big job (16 hours charged under warranty but 26 hours actual repair time ?) ... so it might be worth checking whilst the car cannot be driven (or is laid up for winter ?).

Yep. Issues like this is one of the reasons for starting this thread… they were not being discussed openly … probably because people were worried about values!
This oil gasket issue seems to just be down to an assembly issues with maybe that corner being over-torqued causing damage to the seal. Instances have occurred in all models using this engine.
Other issues on 4RS/SRS are:
- excessive oil consumption in general, which can be a symptom of an engine going wrong, although should not be taken by itself.
- Engine replacements due sudden oil pressure loss
- throttle body actuators failures
- Replacement dampers due to rattling, leaking or spring perches seizing.

Are these issues of oil leakages the same as affected several runs of 991.2 GT3s Tyrone? This oil gasket issue seems to just be down to an assembly issues with maybe that corner being over-torqued causing damage to the seal. Instances have occurred in all models using this engine.

So Porsche still can't build an engine? You'd think they would have got the hang of it by now!
In fairness there didn't seem to be many and there is nothing manufactured that "will never" go wrong ... the important thing surely is to watch out for it and get it sorted within the warranty period. If it hasn't gone wrong by the time the car is out of warranty and the car is looked after, then it may well have a very long and trouble free life (which cannot be said of some manufacturers).
If there is one thing that my ownership over eight years and 34000 miles of my well tracked and looked after 981 GT4 has taught me, it is that Porsche know how to build a very good car. RPM checked it over prior to sale and it was faultless .... a great car and arguably a poorer engine than that in either a GT4RS or various GT3's ...

Come back with that level of patient understanding when you have an engine mount give up at Spa If it hasn't gone wrong by the time the car is out of warranty and the car is looked after, then it may well have a very long and trouble free life (which cannot be said of some manufacturers).
Posted on another thread earlier this same thing but all cars are a bit rubbish now. Complexity and bean counters. You are quite right that there is no manufacturer any more that can legitimately claim reliability as a core value.
Whilst at Spa in my 964RS a friend of mine had a hub carrier fail in the complex at the end of the Kemmel Straight. In his left hand drive Clubsport he ended up in the kitty litter parallel to a concrete wall ... and had to get out of the passenger seat. Lucky.
As for engine mounts ... I'm assuming this was the infamous PASM that makes no difference on track because it reverts to full hard ?

Mine failed completely on my 718 and the engine was making a grinding noise in the back! Total failure I had on mine.
My 718GT4 failed one side over the summer and remained in the normal PASM setting used it for another c200 miles OPC fixed it the following week and no further issues since.

I’d say Japanese built cars like Toyota and Honda are reliable.Posted on another thread earlier this same thing but all cars are a bit rubbish now. Complexity and bean counters. You are quite right that there is no manufacturer any more that can legitimately claim reliability as a core value.
