Given the 981 is now 10yrs old I do wonder how many have ditched OPC servicing and opted for an Indi .
Very tempted myself but do worry that lots will now start to go wrong given the age of these cars & a warranty is only £720 per year so a no brainer.
I have 2 years warranty however will likely go indie after the 2 years as opc servicing costs are getting silly. You effectively pay well over double compared to an indie so need to add this to the cost of any warranty. In addition the terms have changed so when I renew a lot of what is covered won't be next time due to corrosion etc e.g. sports exhaust. Very tempted myself but do worry that lots will now start to go wrong given the age of these cars & a warranty is only £720 per year so a no brainer.
If you also factor in age related items such as suspension which the warranty does not cover then it becomes even more of a no brainer....suspension arms 1k vs 120 quid each!

I kept to OPC servicing and full warranty until I sold my 981 GT4 last year. About 2 months before I sold, the air con stopped working on the driver's side. Turned out to be a faulty air diverter valve, buried deep in the bowels of the dashboard. I'm guessing it would have been expensive in labour, possibly in parts too. I was glad to have invested in the warranty and keeping the service record with Porsche. It was all sorted without issue. I think it's a no brainer too.Very tempted myself but do worry that lots will now start to go wrong given the age of these cars & a warranty is only £720 per year so a no brainer.

Is the 3rd service on the GT4 platform a significant one?
Servicing is every 2 years/20K miles they alternate between minor and major, so this next service should be a minor. Not sure on the current costs you would need to ring around as dealers have their own pricing.I had a major on my 718GT4 last year and it was around £1800 with PCGB discount and that was ringing around.
Is there much room for negotiation with an OPC for an AUC? I'm looking at 718 GT4 clubsports, at OPCs, mainly for the two years warranty.
How have people got on with their negotiations? Reduced sticker price, third year warranty, free service(s), raided the parts dept for some Manthey parts?

No idea, a year or two ago you would little if no chance, but times have changed at Porsche so you may be in luck, plus you're into the quiet time of year. How have people got on with their negotiations? It's nearly YE so if you're going to make a cheeky offer do it now.
They may knock something off, throw in a PEC day I doubt there's much more wiggle room but who knows. If you're taking finance I'd certainly look to move that to someone else ASAP rather than stay with VW finance rates.

Fingers crossed, I will have an exciting (for me!) update over the weekend...
Nope. After driving a GT4 a couple of weeks ago, I decided that I didn't like it more than the Alpine under normal road conditions. So I turned my attention to a Spyder. Spent a couple of week researching them, and found a couple to drive. One with 18 way seats the other with buckets and PDK.
Didn't like the 18 ways. They sat too high.
Didn't like PDK, but liked the buckets.
This left me with one of my 3 on my shortlist. Folding (and heated buckets, manual and a good spec). However, it was tired, very tired. Huge amount of scoring around the inside of the front wheels, one of the worst PPF wraps I've seen on a car and faded carpets. Plus the folding buckets sit higher than the regular buckets.
I think the main learning here is that OPC cars are very hit and miss, they really don't do anything with them to get them in to a decent condition, they are just turned around to make a decent buck.
I've got one car left, which I'm now confident will tick all the boxes, but that's for next week.

Is the view to get a GT car (even used) customer must have good buying history? New GT cars yes, but even a used one (albeit like new)
No need for used ones, my GT4 is my first Porsche. I think that because they weren't limited, you could actually have bought one new without buying history towards the end. Not so for the RS, of course!Freakuk said:
the dual climate is nice but it's a small cabin
As others have said, it's not the dual zone that matters, it's the fact that without it you only have manual air con so you'll constantly be adjusting temperature and blower speed. The climate control actually has options in the PCM for whether you want it to be subtle or a stronger effect, on top of being set-and-forget. It should be a no-brainer option.kmpowell said:

Absolutely stunning! Merry Christmas to you, indeed!
I know the Porsche side-decals divide opinion, but I personally love them when in silver, done to match silver wheels. So much so, I ve specced exactly that on my incoming GT3.
