GT4 - 982 - Questions and advice
Discussion
these GT4's in a good spec (clubsport, etc) are very rare as people tend to keep them, I have heard now from a few local GT4 owners (prior to luckily getting mine) that there are very few better driving cars out there like a well specced GT4 (inc 911 family) and I actually tend to agree, mine is totally brilliant.
Good luck in the hunt..... you might be lucky.
I am awaiting a 911 turbo allocation - but who knows when these are gonna launch/land.

I've missed out on two recently out of thinking I'd have time to view, negotiate then purchase to people who reserved online within days. Lesson learned. I have a hard deadline of end of March before my first track day. Email notifications have been set up for my search criteria.
Out of interest what were you looking for? It’s pretty tough to get all boxes ticked (although I was very pleased with mine). I just went for it though - would have missed out if I hadn’t.J-P said:

Clubsport, climate control, parking sensors and rear camera and a subtle colour are the main ones. Wheel colour can be easily changed. Brakes I'm not too fussed, it'll be tracked so if it came with PCCBs, they might get swapped out for steels. There's an AUC leggy black clubsport with gold wheels but without dual zone climate that's been at High Wycombe OPC since Sept but seems overpriced and underspec'd.
ChatGPT fixed the wheels but not the lack of dual zone climate...
Bodes well that two more cars hit the Porsche website today. A sensibly priced and great spec Python Green and an expensive Shark Blue. Both colours though aren't high on my list of colours I want.

I wouldn t let the lack of dual climate control put me off a GT4 or any other car for that matter.
As has been said before, the problem is that without it you only have basic manual air conditioning - no temperature control besides "hotter" or "colder". It's not the fact that it's dual zone that's important, it's the fact that without it you don't have climate control at all.FWIW my previous car was a GT86 - they launched in 2012 at £25k and dual zone climate was standard. Porsche not including it on a car costing three times as much, 8 years later, is pretty piss poor. It was a must-have when I bought my GT4.

I was astonished when I was looking last year at the number of cars with more expensive decorative options like carbon illuminated door sill covers but no climate! 50% of GT4s and 40% of GTS 4.0 Caymans on Autotrader last February lacked climate. It must surely be mostly due to lack of understanding by buyers - and OPC sales staff - rather than a conscious choice?

I drove that car. It's nice, but it was also what made me buy a Spyder. There's an AUC leggy black clubsport with gold wheels but without dual zone climate that's been at High Wycombe OPC since Sept but seems overpriced and underspec'd.

This is my assumption too. Poor assumptions by buyers and not the detailed knowledge of OPC sales. The only car I've owned without climate control was an Exige which I can forgive because, well, it's an Exige. 50% of GT4s and 40% of GTS 4.0 Caymans on Autotrader last February lacked climate. I simply found a happy medium position on the temp dial and let the car reach that temp.
What I did miss from my wish list was folding mirrors, every time I parked in my garage.

Remember a lot of the 21/22 plate GT4's suffered the post Covid parts shortage. That's one of the reasons you see a lot with the base headlights as well. My old GT4 (I was 2nd owner) had climate on the original spec sheet but the car didn't actually have it. I did get the PDSL+ and other bits I wanted so made do with manually upping the fan every now and again!Mark83 said:

My car doesn’t have climate. It’s just weird on a car that expensive. My GR86 which was £30k had dual zone climate control. To be honest it doesn’t bother me that much. I find I’m always trying to get up or cool down the car in any case and never really settle on a temperature, so it’s fine as it is. It does have everything else you wanted though CS, Bose, full leather, PDLS, reversing camera and PCCBs. But it’s really important that you get what you want. Mine will go on track but I’ll probably just get the brakes sorted by the boys in Tring rather than swap for steelies. There's an AUC leggy black clubsport with gold wheels but without dual zone climate that's been at High Wycombe OPC since Sept but seems overpriced and underspec'd.

Went live yesterday and reserved/removed today, not surprised at that price. Great spec and price if you like Python Green. It made the similar spec car at Silverstone OPC look very overpriced. Shame it's in Belfast so a flight there followed by an eight hour ferry and four hour drive home. Mark83 said:

You could always get it delivered to the UK, cost roughly £500 give or take. Or get the overnight ferry to Birkenhead and get to know your new car on the drive home. We use the ferry service three or four times a year and it’s very efficient. Porsche Belfast are right beside the ferry terminal.Olderandwiser22 said:
Not sure on the colour combo - that's why it's priced that way. Maybe ok in a sunny place.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
