955 slight rubbing noise from steering wheel

My 06 955 has a slight rubbing noise when returning to centre after a sharp turn - its been there for the last 3 years
It feels and sounds close, so right at the wheel end of the column - just wondered if others have experienced this
I am guessing there's a lot going on under the wheel given all the buttons that need to stay connected when turning? How do they connect? wires?
