Fully synth 75W90 GL4 rating is what I use and is generally regarded as the best for the '44 trans (I'm not sure about the '68 though?). I found Castrol Syntrans very good in my LSD box (road and track use), but have now started using Morris Lodexol FS 75W90 now it lives (or will when it's working!!) a harder life on track. The LSD thing does add an additional layer of complication as some say the friction modifiers are too 'slippy' for the clutch plates. Personally I don't subscribe to this as my 118k mile diff works perfectly and is well within spec on breakaway, therefor I conclude it as internet prattle.

Thats why I detest Rennlist.
There's a lot of really useful info on there, but gawd do you have to cut through a lot of crap... I much prefer the 951 Facebook for technical chat as it tends to be more to the point and there's some experienced people on there! Still some crap though of course. blade7 said:
There's some 2.8 parts for sale on ebay now, no connection with the seller.
Thanks for the heads up, incidentally a pal had also pointed me in the direction of that. Big money though for what is a poorly-listed kit with sod all meaningful details... I'm sure it's quality tack though. It's not for me as I'm pretty settled on the idea of an offset-ground 2.5 crank and 4G63 Evo rods, making race shells easily and cheaply accessible for future rebuilds.

It is big money though it was also 'offers', maybe it's just a poorly worded advert. There was a similar 3.0 setup on Gumtree in that part of the world a while back, when I asked a few pertinent questions it went quiet, so I would be very careful. I'd also go the offset stroker route if I didn't already have most of the 3.0 bits already. It's not for me as I'm pretty settled on the idea of an offset-ground 2.5 crank and 4G63 Evo rods, making race shells easily and cheaply accessible for future rebuilds.
Still haven't gotten round to fixing the image hosting saga... I've finished building the motor and it's now back in the car. It's hopefully going in to have the new loom built, MS3 and mapping around November time. Hopefully time to test it and work out any bugs ahead of new season.
