Hello,

I’ve just collected a new Macan and I’m having trouble getting the Connect app to connect to the PCM.

I can connect my phone to the PCM’s wifi, but then when I try to login on the app on my phone, it can’t connect to login.porsche.com, presumably because the Embedded sim has no data connection?

When the salesman was setting up the PCM, he avoided setting it up to use my phones sim, and chose the embedded sim. Is there a way to disable the embedded sim, and force the PCM to take over my phone’s sim? I’ve just spent an hour trawling through the menus and can’t seem to find it.

Thanks

Just a quick update. I’ve ordered the 7GB data package through My Porsche, which was free. But no doubt they’ll want some coin for data once that runs out. And that’s why I’m not sure if the embedded sim is the way to go.

Hi. I’ve found you don’t need the additional data (unless you want to stream music) and you can use the embedded sim but it was a faff to set up.

If I remember correctly you need to rename the cars Wi-fi and change the password and then you need to search it on your phones Wi-fi and connect. Use the default code and password and it will never connect properly.

If you use the connect app on your phone you can then save destinations and when you get in the car connect to the cars Wi-fi and they will be in the car apps favourites. TBH still a bit of a pain and that’s really about the only use I’ve found for it.

I tend to use google in the car with the embedded sim to search for what I want and then set it as a destination. Plug the phone into the car and use Apple play.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks, I’ll try changing the WiFi SSID and password and see how I get on.

I suspect I won’t use it much either, if at all. It just annoys the hell out of me when I can’t get stuff to work.

Ping me a message if you’re still having trouble - it took me ages and drove me bananas until I sussed it out.
