I’m taking delivery of my first 911 in a few weeks and currently drive a 18 plate Macan GTS. I love it as a daily driver, but the fuel efficiency is poor, especially as I always seem to have in at least sport mode. The insurance costs aren’t the best either.

I’m considering cashing in against the cost of the 911, and buying a cheaper and more efficient daily.

It cost me £62k new and similar models are going for 64-68k currently. So, should I cash in now before they launch a GTS variant of the facelifted version, when presumably, the price will drop?

I’d miss it and ideally I’d keep it, but the running costs and the current residuals are pushing me in another direction.

Any thoughts?

I’ve chopped in quite a few P cars for new models and tbh regretted letting a few go (991.2GTS and Macan GTS to name but two).

IMO I would hold on to the Macan for a couple of months and see how you feel once you have got over the initial excitement of the 911. If you’re not using it sell it, if you are you may feel like some others that it’s pretty much an ideal 2 car line up for fun and practicality.

You would definitely get better money selling it through a specialist rather than back to the OPC who I would guess will offer you around £55k max based on your assessment of the market and depending on your spec.

Finally I doubt we will see the new Macan GTS in 2019 so you probably have a few month to decide before the new model launch depreciation starts to be an issue.

Enjoy the new 911 - they are awesome cars in all specs and flavours.

Thanks. I think I may do as you suggest and hold on to it for a few months and see how I get on with the 911 (it’s also a 991.2 GTS).
