This was left on the table at the auction at the weekend I am told bids didn’t get above 15k - still for sale

Wow, have I been asleep ? Unless I have missed something fundamental on that auction car, it surely would have been priced in the mid £20ks until fairly recently. Have prices really come down that far ? Yes, mileage may be on the high side, but certainly not extreme. It has original seats, with original covers that look in decent nick in the pictures. It has keep-fit windows and correct steering wheel. So bar the sunroof an no mention of LSD or MO30, the spec looks good.
Even if it needs brakes, shocks and a big service, does that not seem relatively good value at £15k ???? It's certainly got my chequebook twitching.......
(I reserve the right to change my mind if someone confirms it's a multiple CAT D and /or full of rust !)

Might have an otherwise known History that doesn't appear with an HPI Check etc..?
Club Sports were the perfect Track Rat..
I owned a LHD Maritime CS with LSD, MO30 and no sunroof (but aircon) - perfect spec in my view. It had c.165k miles, had had multiple "adventures" and plenty of paint. I sold it c 4 years ago for £24k. It later appeared in a Silverstone auction as "original panel and original paint" - ho hum.......... I actually felt strongly enough to email Silverstone and tell them that they were grossly misrepresenting the car. To their credit they did change the description, but I seriously doubt the eventual purchaser was any the wiser.......Club Sports were the perfect Track Rat..
Caveat emptor !

Have been price watching for a while. Used market is dead, particularly in the sub 50k 'third car' space. People just aren't moving on toys until theres a bit more certainty on where the bottom is, which I feel is a long way off (time wise, not £ wise). Even if it needs brakes, shocks and a big service, does that not seem relatively good value at £15k ???? It's certainly got my chequebook twitching.......

If you can afford to not worry about 5 or 10k now is a great time to step in and get cars to use, so it's pretty good news. Who cares about collectors or speculators anyway? They put the cost of our fun cars through the roof.
It used to be the case that buying a car to use cost money, and we accepted that. You used it, it lost value. I'm happy if those days make a return.
This one sold for approx £6k, are we back to the prices of 10 years ago?!
clearly it’s a runner but it might be worth almost that in parts?
Approx 150-160k miles if description is to be believed...
Good basis for a track car?

A cynical person might wonder if you're keeping it because you couldn't flip it for £18.5k....
To be fair to Kingroon his price expectations were pretty sensible once in conversation. It looks a sorted car, and it's clearly in good nick. I'm sure if somebody makes a decent offer then it'll be sold, but good to see it getting used and enjoyed for the time being.
So based on that did this sell at the right price 6 weeks ago? Referenced it earlier in the thread but how much £ do we think this one need to bring up to reasonable condition? Looks a little mouldy inside unfortunately, I don’t know if a steam clean sorts it.

Are you his agent? It's done 165k miles, Unless it's being punted out from a fancy showroom it's a £13-14k car at best.
LOL not his agent. I think you misunderstood my post, which could have been taken two ways. Once in conversation with him it was clear his expectations were reasonable ie there was flexibility in the price to reflect what would be perceived as about right given the suppressed market.
I agree with your ballpark figure above, by the way.
