Panamera Depreciation
Discussion
I love these but couldn’t afford one a few years ago when making a used car choice. The A7, Cls and 640d that were kinda similar have come down in price massively but a clean 2012 3.0d is still 20k. 20k last year and 20k the year before.
I think the look great and the interiors are lovely, what nicer than the 640d I got. Then again they can now be had for £10k from £15k last year and the Pan is holding its value

We have used a 2012 Panamera diesel as an every day car for the last 3 years.
It has been such a good all round performer doing everything 8/10 - comfort, performance, style, practicality, running costs.
It’s nice to drive slowly around town, good on country roads, amazing on GT blasts.
Fuel consumption is amazingly good for a larger car. Worst has been 38mpg; best 60mpg.
On a recent varied road type high speed journey with several 120-150+mph stretches, it still averaged over 40mpg.
There is a lot of plastic buttons/switches but generally they are acceptable.
The chrome trim embellishers on the window switches break off easily, but not a big issue.
Steel coil springs and cast iron brakes make the ride occasionally harsh, so air suspension may give a better ride quality.
A local independent Porsche specialist does the annual maintenance and repairs for a good price.
Overall it’s a very good car which for my family has no obvious better prospect available.
At a current market value £20-22k they seem bargain of the classifieds.
We bought it for £27k 3 years ago financing it using 10% deposit, as larger balloon as possible, and a 4 year period. Costs £308/month - cheaper than walking!
If anybody is considering one, the diesel is highly recommended.

Panamera GTS Sport Turismo, 2019:
In my eye the best proposition Porsche had to offer in 2019.
Wonderful power: 4 litre biturbo 485 hp / 620 Nm plant.
Fantastic color, spacious, practical and quick. This one does not feel too big.
Every new car dives down to 50k within the first few years. Better appreciate it for what it is.

I was well aware when I bought mine that it would nosedive as have many others like my V10 M6. However, the ownership pleasure and being able to spec the car exactly as I wanted was well worth it.
If you are aware of this you simply build it into the economic decision. I have had 3 GT3 RS ( still have two) which have negative depreciation over the long haul, but equally was not interested in all of the speculative stuff and bought them list. Understand depreciation is important for many people, but I will keep the Panamera for 10 years or so and that will make it worthless.
Good ten years though.

I've always liked the new shape Sport Turismo, but they do seem to be holding price well.
I've had this saloon Panamera for a couple of weeks now, absolutely thrilled with it. Its a 4 E hybrid, in GT Silver. I would have preferred a Red, but it do like e Silver. It also has saddle brown and beige interior, which is different, but with the full leather, feels a really special place to be. I love the sport design exterior. Also, the matrix LEDs are the best headlights I've ever had in a car. The space in the boot will be more than enough for what we'll use it for.
Its quite nice to be able to use the E drive for local trips, but then the V6 with sport plus when the mood takes me! It sounds great too (I wouid have ideally liked the PSE to unleash a bit more sound)
It seems to be doing about 800-900 miles on a tank, with charging every night, and 50-60mpg, not bad for 456hp and its weight. For its size, it does handle well.

Love that
Black with the carbon would have been my main choice (I've always had bad memories with piano black!)
Looks great against the Red of yours too.
Agree on piano black, but the damn touch screens and console in the Panamera end up smudged. I have preset almost everything and have a cloth in the door to keep it clean ,but takes far too much workBlack with the carbon would have been my main choice (I've always had bad memories with piano black!)

Ah yes, the touch screen and console do seem to attract a lot of smudges, I have the same, in the glove box, I think I'm doing more harm making more micro scratches to be honest! I can only seem to see them in the sun..I've been very impressed with the build quality though, it's nearly at 70,000 miles now and still looks like new.

My experience with Porsche has been good over various models. I have a really beaten up Cayenne S that is 14 years old with 290,000km and still runs like a top.I've been very impressed with the build quality though, it's nearly at 70,000 miles now and still looks like new.

That's very good going milage wise! Great to know that's it all running well too.Think I'll just be holding on to this now The only thing that concerns me in the future is the Hybrid system..

Sent you an email about this, but I suspect it's gone spamwards. So, with apologies for thread drift, how are you finding gearbox downchange quality, especially in manual mode? I've got a '17 4 e-hybrid, 40k miles, and feeling that downchanges - especially 3rd into 2nd - aren't as smooth as they should be, feeling a bit like the clutch being brought up too early in a manual. Dealer, when queried, is adamant it's normal, despite two (newer, natch) courtesy cars being perfectly smooth. Curious to hear what another identical car is like before I start pursuing this harder.
Sorry OP, not depreciation-related!

I did take it for a drive today, it did seem smooth shifting from 3rd to 2nd gear. Some of the changes aren’t as smooth as they should be though, this seems to happen randomly.
Hello hello, former l322 owner looking at getting a panamera e e hybrid! We should all form a club.
I adored my l322 but rust killed her, I currently have a disco which doesn't do anything for me.
Test driving a second hand panamera tomorrow 2013 with 65k on it. I am smitten by the model.
Any advice on what to look out for and when to run away?
Current asking price is a smidge over 29k. Before any deal I'd be asking AA or RAC to do a full check and I am considering purchasing a warranty for piece of mind.
