Hi All,

So I've been thinking about getting another Porsche to join the collection but this would be a daily driver.

The requirement is Pace, Space and Grace without breaking the bank!

I'm looking at the face-lifted 2014+ cars....this whittles it down to

3.0D
4.2D
3.6 TT
3.0 S e-hybrid

So what are your real world experiences, this would be our first family SUV.

Questions:

1. Reliability
2. MPG
3. Service costs

Am I right in thinking that in the longer-term, the hybrid models will hold their value better?

I'm leaning towards the 3.6TT only because of the hate for diesel...otherwise the 4.2d would be my preference....but really want to hear about the hybrid.

Sorry for rambling on.

PS. I looked at a Lexus RX450h, it was just not for me, styling, interior just couldn't gel with it.

4.2 Diesel S is epic.
Sounds nice, handles well, can do 1000kms on a tank full on a long run (drive down to Loire) and 33+ mpg locally and carry 5 to the airport with luggage. They are the bargain of the Porsche range of cars.
Had my 66 plate for a year now. It has just had a transfer box under Porsche warrantee at 24k miles (known fault) but no other niggles.
Hope this helps.

You can get model year 2015 turbo for just a little more than your budget, all the toys, grace and bundles of pace.

Spec is very important, not really heard about many reliability issues beyond the transfer box issue, which sounds like a £1,500 rebuild at a specialist or £3.5k Porsche replacement.

We have had ours for about 4 months, wife mainly uses it around town, on the rare occasion I get to use it, I drive it like I stole it - therefore in just over 2,000 miles we have averaged 16 mpg.

We have seen 28 mpg or a long calm motorway drive.

Last service on ours was a minor one, £606

This included oil change, brake fluid, inspection and tyre sealer

(The tyre sealer can was about £130 of the total).

Thats some fuel figures per tank you are quoting? Even with the 100 lt tank you are pushing 45 mpg and they only quote 38 on extra urban? Boss never got anywhere near those figures.

Hybrid only makes sense if you do small journeys and can charge it...20 mile commute you can run it on battery and its cheap to run. Otherwise you have a 300kg battery pack to haul round. It also works for you if you get tax relied of course but I don’t think that’s relevant for used cars anyway is it ? I nearly bought one but glad I didn’t.....have an S Diesel which is just a fantastic car...45k miles in 2 1/2 years....it’s a really nice drive and is supremely comfortable. The 18 way seats are the best seats I’ve had in a car....and better than they are in the new one. Not sure you need more performance than the S Diesel...it’s quick for such a big car.

Our car is starting to show early signs of the transfer box issue and we did have an issue with an immobiliser. Car was recovered by the AA...3 series replacement car delivered to our driveway and car back two days later. Personally think the Customer Service is excellent from our OPC.

1000kms = 625 miles = ~30mpg with a 100 litre tank.

Set it in cruise at something legal on a France autoroute and it goes for ever.
