My 2007 Cayenne Turbo has an ad hoc issue when starting hot or cold.

When firing up, the power steering doesn’t work. Turning off and on again, power steering is present as normal. No error codes present on diagnostic read out.

Any ideas, I’m scratching my head on this one?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Just a thought. What sort of condition is the battery in?
Granted, mine is a 955 but if the battery gets low then it can throw up all sorts of spurious errors from suspension to abs and everything on between. Give it a quick power down and back up and no errors nor anything recorded in the diagnostic memory.

Steering is hydraulic but likely Servotronic (was option on most - standard on turbo?); switched via a relay in the relay board under the dash - above the pedals, not uncommon to have a relay fail (especially 14yrs old and switching every journey).

I will check where the relay should be and it might be worth pulling when its working and seeing if it replicates your initial issue......

Thank you both, excellent tips. Will start with your pointers. Will check the battery and test with the relay removed. Just in case I’ve ordered a new relay on assumption it will take ages to arrive from Germany.

Removing the relay replicated the issue. HP Porsche have ordered the part, 2-3 days to get here. Will report back once swapped.

This is exactly the problem I have.

How easy is it to get to the relay ... do you have a part number?

Relay is in 'Relay Support 1' above the pedals; a bit of a faff to get to as they are only accessible from below and push in from above(!).

Sorry image is LHD but location is mirrored on RHD. The board pushes up into the dash bracket, release the tabs and it drops through the bracket - not much room to swivel down and out though....

The relay usually has a description printed on it - possibly Servolenkung (sp?)

Part number is 955.618.047.04

HP Porsche ordered it and swapped it over today. Took a week to arrive, which is not bad considering.

Has it cured the problem?

Mine is very intermittant, mind if I ask how much the part was?

Yes so far, hasn’t re-occurred. Relay was c.£100.

Should add mine was intermittent too.
