I'm often browsing the CC's website and like most of us intrigued to see what cars are actually going for rather than doing the usual comparing dealer websites.

They currently have a Fly Yellow 964RS ( bloody lovely thing) that's already hit 140k with 6 days to go.

Now i know these are a well sort after commodity in the Porsche world but it struck me as expensive with 6 days left until i had a look on the Thomas Schmitz website and the same car was previously sold there for 325k Euros . Or at least it was advertised at that price so lets assume 300k Euros.

Do people really pay that much from Thomas?

I saw a red one at JZM few months back up at 160k similar mileage.

Maybe i just need bringing up to speed with the rarity of Fly Yellow.....

I saw a post on Faceache the other day with mid-2000 magazine ads from Paragon and similar

964RS's were £25-30k at that point rotate

Oh for a crystal ball or a De Lorean

The Fly Yellow car at TJS is/was lower mileage (different car) but people do pay massive money for low mileage PTS RS’s...he seems to do a steady trade in them. They’re a car that these bright colours work really well on IMHO, much better than some of the modern cars. I can think of a Mint Green and a Viper Green which he had up for over Eur 300k and sold relatively quickly in the last few months.

The TJS car is on at €325 + post Brexit import duty & VAT and has pink seats. The car on CC is also a TJS car - but with blue seats.

Must be difficult to part with that car - lovely example. Good luck with the sale, should make strong money.

Thanks SRT H / seawise.

I have to say I have really mixed emotions about it and a huge part of me is praying it doesn’t hit the reserve tbh.

I’ve really tried not to post about the sale on PH as it didn’t feel right, but mention of the TJS car got the better of me - should have tried harder I guess !

Hi sorry I was obviously unaware it was your car. I’m happy to take the post down if you’d prefer ?

Seems to be a strong auction already so golf luck with the sale

It was a Giallo Fly 964RS that actually led me to PistonHeads all those years ago. I was at Oulton Park and someone had one there on a track day, Speedline 3 piece wheels with colour coded centres and a matching yellow Blaupunkt radio.

I don't even recall what I was driving back then, maybe a 350Z and after going out as a passenger I was totally hooked. I joined PH to try and find a decent one but they were already creeping up in value back then (maybe 2008?), every time I found a good one (there were so many rough ones) it was about £5k above the bottom of the market and I couldn't afford it.

By the time I'd saved up £35k they were getting on for £40k and on it went until they exploded. Got close at the Nürburgring when an owner fancied my M3csl as a part exchange but bought a new R26.R instead.

I'd still love one but I really wouldn't feel comfortable tracking something that value, even if I could afford it (I can't!).

Similar story here.
Never thought they'd go as nuts as they did and at these levels i cant be getting involved.

Interesting you mention having an R26R as i bought one back end of last year.

Hi GT3Manthey, no worries - free forum, you’re absolutely free to do as you wish, but thanks for the offer.

Not really sure why I was trying to keep it low key and private TBH - maybe a bit embarrassed as I’d posted so much on here about finding a 964RS and now I’m selling, plus genuinely being in two minds about what I’m doing as I’m pretty sure I’m going to regret it. Lastly not wanting to feel like I was talking up the car I guess as anything I say about it will be treated with understandable scepticism I guess.

Either way , no worries whatsoever smile

Groan - I was looking at these a while ago, and now I'm looking again

Can either of you please explain which is the best version of this Megane to have?

The R26.R? There wasn't any versions, just one car in various colours. Options were roll cage with toyo tyres, climate and folding mirrors and a titanium exhaust. Some colours were cost options and decals could be deleted.

Apologies - I should have been clearer - I read through the pros/cons of the various versions of the Megane, but remained puzzled - did you choose the R26R because it is the best for the track?

So why not the 250 Cup?

The 265 Trophy?

etc etc

what is it about the R26R?
