Just taken delivery of our GTS this morning. We were very lucky to have one of the first cars to be delivered to our OPC. I have to say the interior is much nicer than our 2019 S. It's a very nice place to be and the chassis feels a bit tighter but also more supple at the same time. Looking forward to giving it a good run this weekend. I specced it quite high but with the exception of the PTV as didn't feel it was necessary for the kind of work the car will be doing.

I'm going to book a test drive in a base and an S and go from there.
It seems that orders are piling in for the S and GTS. I think folks have realised that time is running out for bagging yourself what is universally recognised as the best small SUV, before somebody at Porsche announces ICE Macan production is ceasing in favour of the EV Macan.

Was shocked at the base Macan being 228 g/co2 for a 2 litre, almost the same price to tax as the GT3 4 litre.

If you order now you will be lucky to get a July 23 delivery, stick with who you're with, it will be worth the wait.

Been seriously tempted by the MY22 Macan S, it looks fantastic in Night Blue, but if we're talking mid '23 for a new order then that's a bit upsetting.

Ordered my gts early August 21. Rang opc yesterday and he said no news on an allocation as yet.

It's mid 23 for a GTS. The S would be sooner than that.

I suspect you will be looking at July/ August for an order put through now (For an S)

Yeah spoke to my OPC and they’re saying about 9 months for the S so I’ve sent a spec over and we’ll see how it goes.

Have been given an April build date for the base Macan, have emailed them and asked can I have the S instead and how it would affect the allocation and build date. As it's just a different engine I cannot see it being a problem.

It's probably on a different line in the factory. A different line that has a longer order book.

I’ve got a base Macan as a loaner for a few days. I’ve driven it before, but I’ve been a bit less impressed this time. The environment inside is still nice, but I’m struggling to appreciate the Porsche DNA this time. It’s probably harsh to compare it to a 911 and Taycan 4S, but aside from the power deficits the steering has little feedback and the brakes have little feel and much poorer stopping power. The 2 litre turbo engine is effective at higher revs and it’s actually quite nice to chase the limiter in a way that you probably wouldn’t work the torquier engines. It’s probably got enough for this car, but in it’s standard mode (i.e. not sport), it has very significant turbo lag. So much so that it doesn’t work well with the PDK and it’s sometimes hard to consider other inputs as the mind is trying to work out when this engine is going to start delivering some torque. In sport mode, this problem is largely overcome, but the engine is then surprisingly thirsty for a 2L.

I’d be interested to try an S/GTS for comparison, but then I’m not really getting much of a sporty feeling from the Macan. As a family transport it’s probably reasonable to consider the 2L and spec the car up inside (seats, leather, sound etc.) as it’s still a lovely place to be.

Got an update from dealer.
Each allocation is for the specific engine model on the Macan, so cant swap to an S.

I'm currently torn between an S and a GTS, originally spec'd an S and the dealer then said lets put the same spec on the GTS and we were only 3k apart.
GTS has 7 month wait here, I guess left hand is quicker to come by. He also said 60% of orders are for the GTS so should have a better resale.

I have a test drive of both the GTS and S on Saturday.

We did the same and went with the S. Slightly cheaper , better spec and we preferred the front bumper of the S. I was not fussed about the extra couple of bhp. It has a dog in it most of the time who doesn't appreciated being thrown about !!

I'm on the fence at the moment but I do prefer the S front end, I'm not sure really on what else the GTS offers over a small increase in power and the sports exhaust which I wouldn't spec on the S anyway. Plus I cant option 20" rims on the GTS which means I need summer and winter wheels which adds 4k so the void becomes larger. I spec'd PASM and upgraded brakes on the S so I guess its really down to looks unless I'm missing something?

One thing for sure is I cant wait to get rid of my GLC!

Can anyone with an S with air suspension or GTS comment about how they deal with potholes - I seem to now live in pothole central and have broken 2 wheels on my Golf in the last year
I have been thinking about a Macan S or GTS but I do need something that can cope with broken up road surfaces

Not an answer, but would it not be cheaper to downsize the rims so you have more tyre (assuming smaller rims fit over brake calipers)? That might solve the issue without having to buy a new car in the - IMO currently slightly mental - car market

Other half has a GTS, the roads round here are not great
and never had a problem with pot hole damage and she is like a magnet to them.

Thanks for that

Just checking MDL, you are not my accountant are you...😂

Really need to drive one to see what I think, meanwhile new dog is slowly eating his way out of the boot in my Golf which tends to make me think it might be worth waiting a year or two, although from what I read that is the likely wait time for a new car anyway
