Hi,

I’m looking to get a roof cargo box for my Cayenne, but concerned that it will be too high for standard car parks, which are usually require a 2m clearance.

Has anyone here ever had one, and do they know the overall height… can’t find much details online about overall height.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don’t have the Porsche roof box, but I do have a recent Thule on my E3 Cayenne. There is no chance you could go into most multi storey car parks with it on - it’s around 2.2m in total when mounted on the official Porsche roof bars (rebranded Thule aero bars). It’s a bit of a pain doing continental trips with it on, as you need to avoid hotels with underground parking, and even lots of municipal car parks have a sub 2.2m height limit, but we only put it on for camping trips and similar.

Thanks.

The Cayenne is 168cm, and i've found cargo boxes that are less than 30cm in height, however I guess you need to add more height for the bars going across, etc.

That sounds about right. My Cayenne just sneaks under the 1.75m bar at my local recycling centre, but the roof bars add almost 15cm, and my Thule Motion roofbox is almost 40cm tall (hard to measure exactly, but that's about the max between where it sits on the bars and the highest point). You can get slimmer roofboxes, typically optimised for skis, but ours is most useful for carrying bulky-but-light camping stuff, like sleeping bags and mats, or an inflatable kayak, so a smaller box would defeat the object of fitting it in the first place.

I’d agree with what’s been said above…one of the reasons I actually have AIr PASM on mine is because of taking the car to Europe and dealing with underground garages. Being able to drop the car just a cmor two can make all the difference.
