V8s Cayenne is the best "do it all" car I've ever owned. Torque makes it seriously quick in the real world for overtaking, 18 ways are the most comfortable seats I've experienced. It's roomy, relatively cheap to run and does 32 to the gallon. Mine's a 2017 - with car play, leather etc and on 84k. I keep looking at GTS or Turbos, but it would cost me £45k to change to a 2021 and it would drink lots more fuel. Given there are no more diesels, I think the only sensible option is just to keep running it. It should be good for the same mileage again.

Get one bought - you won't regret it for a second!

I agree, keep the diesel. I went for a new '23 Macan S petrol after getting rid of my V6d and regret it.
I dearly miss the low down torque. So much so my next vehicle could well be, sshhh, an EV.

I’m 18 months and 20k miles into my 2014 V8 (I wanted a facelift car without adblue as I’d heard stories of the car being stranded due to faults on it) moved from a F31 335D and really can’t see me changing it until it’s not economically viable to have it repaired, it’s at 96k miles now, it was under extended warranty when i bought it , which was reassuring, but my first (and last) service at the (not so) local main dealer made me fall off my chair, £200 / hour labour charge anyone?
A bit of man maths later and I reckoned if extended warranty is costing me £1k / year and servicing was probably £500 extra / year compared to an Indy (who was also 1.5 hours closer to us) it wouldn’t take too long to build up a decent fighting fund, so far I’m in profit!
I’ve done a couple of 700 mile / 14 hour days in it and been fresh as a daisy, absolutely love the adjustable dampers and air suspension, I’ve a reputation for buggering up cars by making them too stiff so being able to waft around the local lanes and then stiffen everything up for a blat is a real benefit.

This!
Early this year is was looking to replace my 3rd Golf R daily driver
Thought I’d add to the pot and buy a F90 M5 thinking this must be awesome having owned a E39 M5 in 2004 and still rate it as the best all round car I’ve ever owned (I’ve had a few cars) hated the M5 for Various reasons and handed it back to BMW
Where to go next… my daughter reminded me how much I loved the 2017 Cayenne 4.2 diesel S I had on loan from Porche in 2017 I didn’t want to give it back
Could I feel that amazed by it in 2024? Hell Yes I’ve now had my 2017 Cayenne S Platinum edition for 4 months took it to Le Mans fully loaded and it didn’t even notice the weight
Comfortable relatively cheap to run and 627lbft torque gives it unbelievable grunt from low revs same money as my Golf R and a different world experience
BUY ONE

Needed a new daily driver - 10k miles a year, 3 dogs. Needs to be a do it all car. Have a 996.2 weekend toy. Went to look at a Mercedes GLE and came back having put a deposit on this...

2016 4.2D owner here , I’ve had the P2201 fault code come on , NOx sensor bank 1 sensor 1 .

But it was replaced 10,000 miles ago, the part alone is £700 do a bit cautious before replacing again.

Anyone seen this ?

I’d clear the code and see if it reappears, I’ve had a few that seem like glitches rather than issues

We've had our 2018 Platinum Edition Cayenne for about 4 years now, and still love it. It does everything so well.

Interestingly we've just bought a Defender 110 and its alarming how different the two are. Both in size and how they drive. The defender makes the Cayenne feel like a sports car in comparison.

The only thing I much prefer in the Defender is the tech, specifically android auto / carplay. Has anyone retrofitted it? I've seen a few ideas about downloading programs to SD cards and installing in the car on the other Porsche forums?

Mr 12 volt is the go-to on all the Porsche forums for retro-fitting car play etc to these.
I've not bothered as I rarely listen to the stereo and have a Garmin for my nav but I've read dozens of positive reports from those who have.

My dad had this on his car. Something to do with the turbo. Tried the NOx sensor already which didn’t resolve.

Precision Porsche sorted it out for him at a reasonable cost.

Porsche wanted to just replace XYZ.

On a 2018 car the best way would by far to be to do the SD card method, since it should already have the required hardware to run CarPlay, just not the software.

My recently departed 2017 4.2 D had carplay? Might have been upgraded before I bought it (2020), but I thought it was standard?

It should do but sometimes you get weird issues with build dates etc.

May be a 2016 car registered in 2018 - it happens
