That shot, that angle. The swollen arches and shark fin,. That was used to excite me about 911 Turbos/ SS back in the day. However, it needs to be borne in mind that it was at a time when almost every other car on the road was a Maxi, Allegro, Cortina or Escort. The wide body 911 looked like it had arrived from outer space. The one car that I recall most vividly from my youth was a light green metallic wide body 911. It had gold BBS wheels. In point of fact it was a 911SC that someone had made into a Turbo Look. But when I first saw it on my way home from work, having been welding up rusty British cars all day, it just made my jaw drop. I can still transport myself back to that moment if I try.
Now that I am older and more affluent it is on my bucket list to recreate that car. But juxtaposed with modern sports cars it will not look so exceptional. I might, possibly, modify a modern 911 with a nod to the car of my youth.

I have had the car for 15 years, and that view still blows my mind.
As a kid I had them on my bed room wall, and that scene from Condor Man where all the badies turned up in black turbos was a big inspiration.

I owned a 930 and a turbo look ten or so years ago and got them out of my system as it were. Also compared to moderns they don’t really stand out to my eye. But I still remember when they were light years ahead of everything around them.
