My beloved 911 SC Targa is currently undergoing a restoration. We're barreling nicely through the oily bits and now my attention is starting to turn to the bodywork. Currently the car is painted in slate blue, but I fancy a change. I don't want to venture too far away from its original colour, although I'm not too bothered about resale value (she's a keeper). I was wondering if anyone's changed the colour of their classic Porsche and have any advice to offer. The interior is dark blue, so obviously I have to bare this in mind. Here's a couple of colours I'm looking at. What do you think?

Flannel grey (? - can't find paint code or any other info on this colour)

Crystal blue (kristalblau) I really do quite like this colour - do you think it would suit the 930 shape?

Yep, that's not bad, I'm open to suggestions. Maybe it's a little too dark. Decisions, decisions... smile

You say 930? Is your SC targe a widebody?

RS orange body work, Carrera side full length script in dark blue, targa top dark blue, turbo Fuchs polished rim with dark blue centres and caps with your original dark blue interior. Side targa badges orange. Front indicators orange lens, rear lens US spec all red with red indicators and orange bulbs. A 3.2 centre rear reflector panel with the intergrated fogs. No whale tail whatsoever. Perfect!

I'm just trying to visualise that and now think I need to go for a lie down!

It would help to visualise it better if you could confirm the finish on the targa hoop and round the windows etc.?

Not the best representation of the colour Mark, but I agree, it's a cracking colour in the flesh. I remember seeing a narrow body example back in the early nineties with the whaletail and front apron, it also had 8" & 9" ? Fuchs (or maybe 7" & 8"'s ?) it had been slightly lowered too. It looked absolutely stunning.

Looked frighteningly similar to this one :
